You cant even carry tear gas in the UK.... All your rights have been removed and all your options for self defence are long gone... When some twat is stabbing the crap out of you or beating the crap out of you, just suck it up, smile and accept your fate....its the English way... Maybe you can enjoy a cup of tea with your attacker later..

Well sure, we also had that non Allahu Akbar chap in Liverpool driving his car into people recently.

All that proved though is that despite the Liverpool chant, it is indeed preferable to sometimes walk alone....😙

Banning cars would stuff the economy and people's lives. Banning guns wouldn't have the same effect, it's safe to say.

We'd have to run some numbers. And those numbers are notoriously difficult to quantify for various reasons. I hesitate to quantify that further as I will be accused of being woke or something.

Guns are an American problem. I don't see why it always seems to crop up in European threads like this?

I think it is a very wrong and dangerous perception that carrying a gun will protect you during any of these mentioned stabbing incidents.

Also I don't want some gun nut blowing me away when I take out my French cheese knife to start carving up some padkos on the train to Brussels...

Mostly they're hidden from the public so as to not create any stereotypes.

But I have yet to come across an incident here where Gijs Boerendans stabs Bibi Mohammed during a fight or robbery.

Part of some rehabilitation programs here allow you to do just that. Success rates for reducing repeat offences of the program are really high.

Think I’ll take that over carrying tear gas thanks. :) who carries tear gas anyway?

Noone... Because its not allowed.

(Although here in SA i have it in my house and in my car... Just given my female staff a tin of it each as well... Its better than sod all)

Restorative justice does indeed work quite well.

Agreed.

The US does indeed have a massive problem with guns, but it's a good example of how being armed doesn't keep you safe.
