So i have this friend, who purchased a universal laptop charger from matrix almost a year ago.
Yes i know mistake #1 Matrix #2 Universal charger.
Now that that's out of the way, the problem we are having is that their psu's keep blowing. In a 1 year period 3 have blown, he says they keep getting hot and then blowing with sparks coming from the psu. The original factory psu is 19v 3.42 amps, and the universal is among others 19v 4 amps. we've stress tested a psu borrowed from another friend which is a Liteon 19v 3.42 (non original) as one argument the store had is that the battery is shot and pulling too many amps. This borrowed charger has been running fine for over a week now without even getting warm whereas in a test done at the store with a universal charger they tested playing hd movies and the charger got quite hot as noted by a staff member.
We've just come from a shouting match at out local matrix cause my friend is now tired of the crappy chargers and wants his money back since replacing it with the same charger which gets hot and pops is pointless, but suddenly now they saying it was user damage and the cables were torn at the psu output (a story which is BS that they're spinning off the truth which is the ORIGINAL factory psu died in that way not the universal one.) so they definitely won't give money back as its been almost a year.
We're now waiting on head office to reply after "testing" the "faulty"(Rubbish) psu.
Let this be warning to those considering buying a universal laptop charger..
