Why are they not going to court as the DA? That's what they always do.

Because one opposition is stronger than 10 little ones?
And what do you mean that is what they always do?

You must be the most competitive person I have come across. That and you have to get that selective comprehension syndrome checked out. It is going to do you harm in the long run.

Why duplicate the effort if somebody else is already doing it?
The DA often works with other parties, NGO's, public interest groups and lobbies.
They don't have to do every single thing themselves. Nobody does.
That's just plain common sense.

ANC will probably claim that the DA is using underhanded propaganda tactics to win the hearts of South Africans.

They should've just thrown poo at the toll roads instead.

Or when Outa wins, the ANC says it's a victory for SA people, and ANC tries to look like a good guy and sanral like scum..

and +1 rep for DA

Well done to the DA. Hopefully it make a difference.

In all honesty, OUTA's chances in the court case are very, very slim... like only a few percent chance.
The court case at this stage is merely symbolic of the people's opposition to the Tolling System.
The government has proven that they intend ramming this thing through at whatever cost.

I agree 100%. saksakgp tries too hard to be Anti-DA it's not even funny. This "outsourcing " post made my day. Can't buy pills for this type of post...

Maybe because they realise OUTA has done most of the hard work and that swooping in at the last minute trying to take over and claim the glory is not the way to do things. But it looks like they still want to help and financial support is way better than just agreeing that Etolling is bad and then doing nothing.

btw. Note the maybe at the start of my post. I'm just making wild assumptions here. But isn't that what forums are for :P

wonder if cosatu would contribute as well?? since they claim to be opposed to etolls and I think they also tried to be declared(may were) friends of the court in the case .... so u would think they would also want to help pay some of the bills .....
or are they just using this to serve their own agendas??

Good question - have Cosatu donated anything to Outa?

So trade unions & other political parties should all start independent cases for the same thing. What's wrong with presenting a united from and contributing to that cause in the form of public opinion, supplying expert witnesses and arguments from their own legal teams, monetary contributions etc?

The DA did try to join the case as amicus curiae but that would never have worked as they are not impartial in the case.

I doubt any of the trade unions contributed anything as they would be on their soap box shouting it out for all to hear.

Even if they tried to apply as friends of the court like the DA it would not have been allowed as they like the DA are not impartial in the case.
