Reasons why the legal challenge should go ahead....

1) This is our chance to stick it to SANRAL, waste their time, give them the finger, even if the challenge is ultimately unsuccessful.
2) There is the outside chance, pretty remote, that the challenge might be successful, but better to have tried, than not tried.
3) OUTA is not to be sneezed at, they represent big players in the motor industry and the public.
4) I would rather send my money there than have paid tolls for all these months now, I have been giving OUTA R500 every month.

100%.

I still have a scheduled monthly EFT going off my bank account to OUTA, and if OUTA can hold out until the 25th which is exactly 3 weeks away, I will pay in a bit more than usual as I'm sure others will do as well.

I decided it's better to go into overdraft before the 25th than to have SANRAL etrolling my arse for the rest of my life.

You guys are really special... you would rather pay to fight this than get on with it and pay for the roads.

In the end you will end up paying even more

EDIT:
They are, which means, we are. They're using our money to fight us in court.

Yip, sometimes you just need to know when you are beaten.

Sorry for you. I'm not giving up. I despise SANRAL and the Department of Transport for this animal they want to unleash on us.

I agree that we must pay for the upgrading of our roads, but detest the secrecy which shrouds this ogre. Further, I detest their arrogance in electing to go with a system so expensive. Collection costs are 66% of every Rand.

I will not lie down and be a doormat.

For SANRAL this is just the beginning of e-tolling. Let them roger us now and it's one way traffic for life.

Don't mind paying for the roads. Do very much mind paying more for the tolling system than for the roads, and the money going offshore. Do mind paying twice or more for the roads.
You want to roll over and present your belly to the ANC wolf, go ahead. But don't belittle those of us who fight in our small way for justice.

A very large part of the bill is for the construction of the gantries and etrolling systems and not the actual road improvements. Gantries and etrolling are not improvements to the roads.

Yes, because when the people just roll over and die it is always in the best interest of everyone. The point is not giving up because you are beaten. The point is to let your government know that you won't just eat their crap.

And also, where have our fuel levies been going? Suburban roads look like trash and they need to rip us off for freeway upgrades, so clearly the levies have been used elsewhere. It is one big mismanaged mess and folks have the right to fight it.

Hai shame. We are not beaten. Do you always lie down and take it from a bully?
This statement says a lot about you.

If only it was twice, what they are charging it's more like 10X.
