Mbeki slams 'shameful' attacks

I think we also need to look at the class(or lack thereof) and type of people committing these xenophobic attacks. lets not beat about the bush about who these people are.

anybody wanna take a survey and count how many of them have completed matric?

I spent a moment in thought on a possible reply to recent posts in this thread and realised that this place is as dry as a desert. No raindrops in sight. ;)

You see Rozier I never asked for your solutions. My comments were directed to those that just quote news and make comments on it that does nothing to address the issue. It seems that they just want to throw oil on the fire, create fellow instigators, a bit of sensationalism. I have yet to see them respond with their actions as they have asked me to do.

My point is simple. Let’s do something – even if it seem trivial.

This is a foolish argument. Read it again this morning, but first read the whole thread. Maybe the context will then become clear to you?

Thread read. Context clear. I stand by my posts! I agree that there are elements on this forum who would rather fuel hatred than embracing solutions, however you are implying that those who negatively comment on news should be suggesting solutions and not merely commenting. Well, this forum is not a "lets solve SA's problems" - if you want that go start one of your own. Your implication that if we havent got something nice to say, we shouldnt say it at all is BS.

You are somewhat like Lancingboi - your goal is admirable, but your methods are questionable!

DJStealth what's up man? Follow (or more importantly - Understand) the debate and then make coments.

Thanks for clearing that up Mr wannabe-mod-for-a-day! If you feel I was out of line then report the post to the mods! I think you are the one who needs to re-read your numerous comments from the outset of this thread and realise that whilst posting solutions is admirable, it is clearly not possible considering the mental capacity of some of the forumites, nor is it a forum rule! Feel free to speak to RPM if you feel strongly about this.

:eek::eek::eek: Do I deserve this hailstorm?

Report the post then - not sure if it was intended for you though - considering his previous posts on other threads, I think this was intended for Mr Mbeki...

Aah then. You seem able to intuitively know what people mean.

"Your implication that if we haven’t got something nice to say, we shouldn’t say it at all is BS" Never implied that. That's your interpretation.

Well I have seen the racist drivel he has been posting in some of the other threads and I am 99% sure this is directed at guavamint or TBone, not you. Either way, its a pointless post!

Rather the mental state I’d say....

No matter. My response was a joke. I did not take it personally.

I can sympathize with your need and want to DO SOMETHING but I am afraid we are way,way past the token efforts that most 'do gooders' tend to indulge in and that may be considered 'trivial' by many. If that floats your boat, then by all means continue, but this country is in survival mode right now and trivial measures just won't cut it. It is time to take drastic action to cope with a drastic situation. In honesty we know what the problems are, where they stem from and who is responsible, what we lack is the balls to act. And this inertia could (probably will) be the ultimate downfall of this country. (Oh, that I were 30 years younger!!) I truly don't know of anyone who loves this country more than I do but it has become like the rest of the 'Africanized' states. A ****splat of corruption, crime, degredation and waste. It really breaks my heart. I, personally am too old to even attemt to do anything CONSTRUCTIVE about it, so I intend to walk away. If I can. But I will go with a heavy heart.:(
