Firstly, the recommended minimum Ah for a 48V model is 200Ah, you will see that on your manual when going through it, it will work with 105Ah but you might experience issues.

I did send a query to Mustek this is what they replied , a bit ambiguous though

The fans are always running when the inverter is charging the batteries and discharging from batteries, the fans must always run to cool the components.

True it is ambiguous, because if you are on AC you are not discharging the batteries, so what should they be running for, even the cheapest inverters don't have fans running a the time.

lol unless you had the 1st version of the mercer modified sine inverter - those fans would you believe never switched off

So I cant change step 4 - no options come up only SDS
 
yep on manual - SDS and SEN - so maybe another setting controls it - but can't find anything.
maybe i need a firmware update - if that's possible - it has a USB and network port
All the settings that are dependent on others are clearly indicated. I don't have any idea about the firmware, maybe Mustek can help. Also ask on the Power Forum and hear what they say.
 
Is there control software that connects to the inverter via the USB port? Mecer said not, but someone I know in George said his installer hooked up a laptop and did all the settings this way

The laptop thing is probably just doing the settings on Watch power, it has the same effect as just doing the settings on the inverter, not an enhancement in any way last time I checked.

16: This is your problem, I am not too confident that your solar has enough current to properly charge the battery, at 60A you will need 2800W, not factoring in the efficiency losses, yours is currently 1980 not factoring losses which means you are probably getting less than the rated power

Based on that I would select 16 SNU for this setting.

18 to 22, leave on default.
23: BYE
25: default.
26: 53.2V
27: Default
29: 47.5V
31 to 38 leave on default.
Good day. Having similar problems and picked up on this thread. I’m a DIY’r with a hydroponics veggie farm and desperate to reduce Eskom dependency and costs. I have currently 12 265 Watt panels installed in 3 strings of 4 panels. At noon, I get 137 volts at my combiner panel so enough for the MPPT. I have 6 Mustek (Dyness) M3000 batteries installed but currently only trying to set up on the first battery. I have set #26 to 53.5V, #27 to 52V and #29 to 47V. I have set #16 to OSO as my first objective is to maintain the battery charge using solar while we sort out our existing DB. There should be sufficient solar for this and have even set #02 to 10A. The Inverter will not settle down and seems to be hunting with Voltage an Amps swinging over a wide range, reaching only 50.1V to the battery. Any suggestions / advice will be greatly appreciated.

IIRC setting 2 is the total charging current for both solar and battery, I will confirm this but from first impressions this looks to be your problem, 10A is just not enough.

Alternatively post the description for setting 2 on your manual and we'll see if that's the setting I am thinking about.

I take it you have the older inverter with a string configuration like that, 145V max on the controller and 80A on the current. Change setting #02 to 60A that should fix your issues, because currently the inverter is able to recognize 30A to 40A on the controller but the max charge current is set to 10A.
 
Thanks for the advice. I reset 02 to 30A and was as able to progressively charge the batteries that had all been sitting on the second indicator I.e. 20%. The inverter readings are still swinging over a wide range. Dificult to describe but shows the solar input continually varying between appr. 500W to 1.5kW and 1 to 21A. Is this normal

I understand what you are saying and it's perfectly normal, on those inverters you don't see the total solar production but it is rather on demand type of readings, if for an example you plug a kettle you will see solar going up, if only low consumption appliances are plugged the solar reading will go down.

What you need to do is make sure all your settings are prioritized to solar, settings like charging priority and others.

Why not set 02 to 60A? Your panels should more than able to push it that high, also the batteries will take the maximum amount of solar till they are charged.

I am not sure if I understand your question but it depends on what priorities he has, for an example if his charging priorities are on AC then his solar will behave the same because it will be underutilized.

He needs to set his charging priority to solar so that as long as the batteries are not full the maximum solar can be used to charge them.

I assume this is an off-grid setup ie; no grid, so there is only solar, so how will that affect the priority? The way he described it, it sounds like its fluctuating between 500W-1.5kW while charging the batteries. I also assume with hydroponics, the load is pretty constant with the pumps.
