Mega 100WR wireless help needed

Hi

We recently self installed Telkom's DoBroadband and received the Mega 100WR modem. The modem works fine when using a network cable.

The wireless is the problem. It seems like the modem only allows our laptops to connect when it likes. One day it assign an IP, but the next the laptop is aquiring an IP all the time, but it does not connect.

Sometimes restart the AP solves the problem, but other times, like today, it does not.

Any ideas?

You've probably got another DHCP server running on your network, or there is something wrong with the router, or there is something wrong with the configuration or there is something wrong with the notebooks configuration need more ideas?

Electronics don't usually express preference or mood swings, so I doubt that's the problem.

Firstly to help we need more info

Is this at home?
how many laptops do you have?
how far away is the laptop from the AP(mega 100wr)
How strong is the signal
are you using both b and G
Do the laptop have built in network cards or PCards with a external antenna

try changing the channels to see if it gets better reception

are you using windows on the laptops?

Have you screwed in the antenna tightly

1. Only 1 server running
2. Could be the router.
3. If the configuration (router or laptops) is incorrect, why does it works at all?
4. It is at home.
5. We have 3 laptops. At any one time there is probably only one trying to connect to the network.
6. About 5 meters away from the router, but even next to it when trying to connect.
7. The singal strength is 100%.
8. Will to go and make sure, but I think I use both b & G.
9. Laptops have built in network cards.
10. Don't think signal strenght is the problem.
11. The laptops use windows.
12. Antenna is in tightly. Don't think that the signal strength is the problem.
