Megsapp Feedback and Support Thread

I logged "a case" with MTN prepaid support, and this morning everything is working again. MegsApp didn't even reply.
 
I just got this SMS:

megsApp: Some customers may have mobile data issues, mainly WhatsApp calls. Voice calls/SMS work. We are resolving this.
 
Aaaannnnnd... it's gone again. Possible MTN are throttling MegsApp customers when usage reaches some kind of combined limit? I'm thinking, perhaps "non-expiring anytime data" is a second-class citizen, and as soon as there is any burden on the network, those users get the high-throughput applications throttled. And it is just severe throttling - I can sometimes squeeze a WhatsApp text message through, but no images or video. (edit: added more thoughts)
A VPN gets around it, so definitely SNI throttling. (edit2)

When it works, all is good. But - support is pretty much brain dead, as I've said before.

We've just travelled across South Africa, Cape Town to Kosi Bay. The kids managed to burn through 20gb of YouTube/Prime Video.
 
initially i had issues setting up but the whatsapp support got me sorted...this was even after 6 one evening...

The major networks aren't much better, I bought an MTN 20Gb data bundle on my MTN contract for R199 and the data wouldn't deplete, after one month of wasting a lot of time with their support I gave up and the bundle expired.
Absolute fkn idiots - best they could do is reboot your device or phone the coverage team, despite telling them I had excellent connectivity and speeds and me using data on the sim card albeit not the bundle data which is supposed to deplete first before the base data.
