Divorce sounds messy. So glad my marriage is still going strong and the wife and I seem to be on the same page financially, emotionally, etc.

A boring life is a blessing.

The law does not enforce many of those aspects as per Ancalgon's post either. While intent and results vary, you will have to make a case by case basis for each of those points.
I said law and social institutional system. All of his points speak to the preferential treatment women derive from institutional social systems.

If you want to discuss how badly men are treated in society, you will need to deal with violence against women, and absent fathers head on.
You are operating under the false assumption that men and women are fundamentally the same, such that social interactions between the sexes can somehow be equalised.

So this order was 10 years ago? May I ask, have you received a new order since then to cater for inflation or any additional income you have earned?

Yes after I got full time employment it was adjusted again (increased) and is currently getting increased on a yearly basis as per court order

And would you say your payments are fair?

Care to tell us how much you are paying?

Yes I would say my payments are fair as the amount that I pay covers full school fees, medical, extra mural and some.
Thus basically the ex has no contribution.

For me this is supposed to be a 50/50 not a 0/100.

So you also pay for food, housing, clothing, entertainment, pocket money?

It's not 50/50. The calculation is done on earnings of both parties.

You just said you think it's fair, yet you are here complaining about how unjust the system is...

Basically I pay for everything.

Yes I am well aware it is calculated on earnings which is also a load of bollocks.
It should be calculated on what the child needs not what the mother demands. (which the courts grant)

Happened to me happening to my 2 friends. Basically the system is skewed.

Earnings are based on demand. It's not an area of advantage, but an area that is equal.

Yet, as a woman, I cannot go for a run or ride on my own for fear of being raped. Totes advantaged!

You see that statue of Lady Law in front of the court houses? The same one Zapiro's cartoon showed having been held down and raped by Zuma & Co? You know she's blindfolded for a reason, so she cannot see who stands in front of her lest she judges by looks, color, creed.. or even ability to rape.

That lady is so disappointed in your logic right now, it's like you just raped her (and the law) too.

You dirty, filthy, double rapist!

Oh wait, rape is systematic violins perpetuated by the patriarchy in order to deny freedom of women's bodies, so that means women can't rape, or some other crap. Lol, you know where its safe from the big bad world out there? Did you just think the kitchen? Good for you.

Just get over yourself ok..

I dunno. That's why I was asking in my first sentence.
The marriage regime happens during the marriage and at the termination thereof. The maintenance is what happens after the marriage and that is determined by the court should one of the parents (in the case of child maintenance) or exes (in the case of spousal maintenance) approach the court, their respective capacities.

Spousal support isn't all that common in our country because our court system supports a clean break system after the divorce. Only time you'll hear of spousal maintenance is when UHNW individuals get divorced in which case it's usually the wife who wants him to enable her to continue to live according to the lifestyle she lived during the marriage by paying R100k per month.

Ok, so if I understand this correctly, If I had a kid, I will need to pay maintenance for the kid even if we had a prenup?

How tf does a woman get custody of a child if she can't afford to look after it...

Yes, and there is a lot more to raising a kid than money.

if it comes to kid(s)... you will pay. Even if the mother can't afford. Law looks favorably on the mother..
