Meta Quest 3 local availability

I bought the Quest 3 from Wootware, not going to get the Quest 3s, no need for sport model, just the regular 3 will do.

Where do I get the cable to connect it to my PC computer? Will my RTX 4070 be okay to pull this thing? I saw videos on DCS but apparently RTX 4090 is commended for that game specifically.

I have two cables. One works fine but my PC USB ports can't keep the 3 powered up.

So I replaced it with this one from Amazon, which supports connecting a 18W charger as well as PC connection.

The 3S is a cheapie, more in line with a Quest2. Definitely no sport model.

Ideally you don't want to connect it via cable, but instead through a proper Wifi6 router like this one:

There's cheaper ones and way more expensive ones, but having read through a ton of posts online as to which one to get, this is the one I settled on and I'm very happy with it.

I tried a Cudy Wifi6 router in the beginning but had lots of framedrops/packetloss which really degrades the experience.

4070 is fine for most games. My 2080 has been doing surprisingly well for the most part (with 5800x3d CPU picking up some slack), but the wait for the 5000 series (or AMD's 8000) is hopefully over in a few months.

I'm going to stick with that peachz cable for now if it gets frustrating I'll look at Amazon, eish there's not a lot of options locally for cables, it's basically that peachz thing and some other R150 no-name takealot jank that'll probably not work.

My gf had a lot of issues using that cable. Length was more than fine, but randomly it wouldn't detect the headset at full usb3 speed, then you have to unplug and try a different (or the same port) for it to go full speed again.

I thought at first the USB ports were faulty / packing up, but then a friend of mine had similar problems as well with his Q3 on a gaming laptop.
Now we connect both of our headsets to the same Tp-link router simultaneously and rarely have a micro-stutter.
A bunch of phones and devices also connect to the same router which is a no-no for full performance, but I've only noticed any stutter on SynthRiders.

Welcome to the VR club.
There's a ton of fun to be had - even just watching +4k youtube using the Wolvic browser app on the meta store (Basically firefox with VR, so you can add ublock origin, etc) while cooking in the kitchen or even having dinner.

Yep the peachz cable is more than fine, especially if you won’t be gaming for more than 2hours.

Crazy how mobile these things are compared to first "new" generation VR headsets from like almost a decade ago, they're basically not even comparable, and cheaper!

There's some crazy niche brands out there I see, especially with regards to sim gaming, sounds like the Quest 3 is a good stepping stone into VR.

Admittedly intimidated by DCS, the rig you require to go full bore quality in VR is like a 4090 monstrosity, definitely not a cheap sport, but DCS is an outlier, I think they recommend 64GB DDR5 RAM to play the full Syria map. You probably need a R200k rig to really rock that simulator, I guess all in all it's cheaper than a superbike and the experience is likely absolutely insane.

Yep not enough to keep the battery at 100% while playing.

The battery slowly trickles away but with the Amazon cable it can go forever.
I'll have to check the cable out, I see it's hit or miss some people happy and everything charges and works as intended, others not so much, either it's an issue where that peachz cable is only recognized by certain motherboards or it's a pretty rough QC issue with the peachz cables, almost R500 for a "hit or miss" type cable is a bit egregious, though, we'll see.

It is my motherboard. My USB ports don't support Power Delivery (PD). I could have got an extension PCIE card with USB3 PD ports and it would be fine.

If I plug that Peachz cable on my fast charging brick, it retains charge at 100%. So definitely my mobo.

I cannot stress to you guys how cool the Quest 3 is, and the things that are incredible I only found out AFTER I got it.

The internal graphical power of this thing is incredible for what you pay.

The android platform is absolutely insane and more so if you already have even a midrange PC, you can tell Steam integration etc has matured a lot because it transitions seamlessly.

Seriously I got more bang for buck in the past two days than I did when I bought a PS5, and that was more expensive!

Might be a silly q, but I just ordered the Meta Quest 3 from Amazon UK and wanted to know what the best way is to charge the headset.

Also, does a UK to SA power converter adapter maintain the power output of European to South African Power Plug Converter Quest 3 charger? I ordered one of these off Takealot - just need to make sure I'm not messing around with the charging output.

You can just charge it with the normal UK adapter, or your cellphone charger - not to worry. It's pretty much a cellphone built around a headset, so same things apply.

Stupid question but how do you go about topping up Meta quest cash ?
All reddit and Meta support links say through the app - but when I go to quest cash, I can see my balance, add my car....but no button for "top up" or "Add quest cash" ?

I also cannot see how to add cash through the app. Tapping the + button just keeps adding payment methods.

Is it like a South African club? I used to play it for the daily/weekly challenges but stopped for a while. I might give it a try
