Damn, I want one for DCS, being aggressively poor right now is a hurdle.

What do you plan on using the Q3 for?

I'm loving my Q3 so far, watching series and movies almost daily. I set the lenses as wide as possible and as close to my eyes for the best FOV experience. The Q2 you have to set the IPD to a sweet spot while the Q3 only matters for FOV
Do these things not tire your eyes? I'm thinking about a VR set for my sim flying / racing but I'm paranoid about my eyes.

After 2 hours of use it tires my forehead rather than my eyes, like kenobi said don't use it for too long if you have never experienced VR before.

Also I recommend getting 3rd party headstraps for better comfort if you get the quest 2/3

Cool, yes about 2 hours tracks with doing intense stuff in DCS or iRacing. It's one thing to play Warcraft for 5 hours but try that in a full bore combat flight sim like DCS and you're mentally moer toe, lol, it's doubly more mentally and physically taxing using iRacing with force feedback.

Quest3s just doesn't have pancake lenses, that's honestly the only real downside I see.

If you can live with that one minor detail, than it's a great buy. It is one of those things when you experience it, you don't want to go back the Fresnel. But that's if you have experienced it, honestly the Quest3s is a pretty damn good starter headset/value proposition.

Hey guys I'm currently in the UK but moving to South Africa in November. Obviously it would be cheaper to buy a Meta Quest 3 here on some sort of deal on Prime Day (8/9 October). The issue is then bringing it back to SA and not having an international warranty cover it. Would you rather buy it from Takealot/Wootware for this or is there a way I can somehow insure it for any faults? Appreciate any responses, thanks.

My biggest concern when ordering from Amazon US is receiving an item that is faulty or has dead pixels. You won't have that problem in UK.

You only get 1 year of warranty which is not much, so if you are a heavy user then it's worth buying here in SA.

I tried to remove the facial interface of my quest 3 and broke the adjustment button so I can't adjust it to the furthest away postion but I use the closest option anyways so no problem for me but it can be a bit annoying.

You'd just have to ship it back to the UK in case there is an issue.
Don't think you'd have a problem if you used it for a month or two and everything is working fine, you'd notice if there are any problems, and after that any issues are probably you damaging it so warranty is probably not going to matter.

For the Quest 2, had family members where it got flung off their head into a wall since they put it on with a ponytail when I still only had the cloth strap, it was fine, the Q2/3 (I have both) are built quite robustly (obviously don't purposefully fling it against the wall/use it as a hammer or allow direct sunlight into the lenses, etc.).

Ooooh, if you can find a local shipper that ships out items with lithium batteries, please let me know who they are, thanks.

Can lithium batteries be sent on their own through the post?

No – you are not able to send lithium batteries on their own through domestic or international post.
You can only send lithium batteries in the UK or international post only when they’re contained in a device (although some services allow for exceptions). It is also possible to send lithium batteries in the UK when they’re sent with their device (although again, there are some exceptions).

Can lithium batteries be sent abroad?

When shipping abroad, lithium batteries must remain inside their associated device. It is not possible to ship lithium batteries separately. Plus, when shipping lithium batteries abroad you must also check the specific rules in the country that you are shipping to.

I know the regulations. Find me a local shipper that can send an item overseas with a built-in lithium battery such as a quest vr and it will be much appreciated. Every courier or shipper I had tried have refused.

I bought the Quest 3 from Wootware, not going to get the Quest 3s, no need for sport model, just the regular 3 will do.

Where do I get the cable to connect it to my PC computer? Will my RTX 4070 be okay to pull this thing? I saw videos on DCS but apparently RTX 4090 is commended for that game specifically.
