I'm so glad I got this magetic adapter right after I got my Quest3

Don't know if it's just me, but the amount of times I picked my Quest up with the cable attached, my USB port would not of hold without it.

You have to use a velcro strap to hold the cable in place and there's even 3d printed cable holders you can download if you have a 3d printer. But yes I can see it's more convenient to use that magnetic adapter and save more time with the setup

Picked up a Quest 3 last week and it's been fun. Superhot and mini golf has been amazing to play. It came with Asgards Wrath 2 which I still need to check out. Swapped the strap out for a kiwi one. Ordered a 3rd party case for it today.

Keen to do some recording / streaming with it, need to figure out how it combines with OBS etc.
Welcome to the club. Share your social links if you plan on streaming (if it's allowed to post on here), it's just cool to see more South African VR streamers, there are hardly any of them out there.

Thanks I will check those out.

I did a ton of research on which router to get for VR, Quest 3 use.

This one came out the best:

Been using it with great success. There's a few settings to twiddle and tweak for optimal VR connectivity.

PS. I paid about £79 + shipping/customs. So maybe wait for a sale / look elsewhere than paying today's price.

I assume you have line of sight between your quest 3 and the router?

Have you tested the latency for controller tracking for games like beat saber? I find wired more playable than on a WIFI 6 router, yes I swing my controllers like crazy fast on expert+ songs

Yup, I jam BS / Synthrider / Ragnarock, etc through Wifi6.
About 3 meters away from the router, though I've stood outside on hot days with no problem. Now and again I get a micro-stutter, but we currently have both my Quest 3 and the gf's Quest 2 connecting to the same router simultaneously, and lately have been lazy to disconnect our phones from this Router - which is typically seen as the biggest culprit.

Coming from the wired HP Reverb G2 I find it hard to tell the difference as far as latency goes, other than the graphics looking slightly compressed if you look very carefully compared to the HP.

I'd definitely invest in a proper Router like the TP-Link above.

Won't be doing streaming, just posting a video on my YouTube channel using the Quest 3 for my niche, more for a fun once off video, doing what I do, but in VR.

Did some recording tests this morning. Unfortunately the built in recorder doesn't capture the meta browser audio. So I will have to cast it to OBS and capture that way (need to figure it out), plus need to get my mic audio captured so that's the plan this week.

Going to order a long cable to plug into pc as even with my mesh wifi it doesn't do well.

Unfortunately I already pulled the trigger on this:
I'll report back how it goes.

Should be okay for the most part, I've used a TPLink AX12 with a dedicated SSID for the Quest (in a different room from the actual headset) and it works well for most FPS VR Games, Blade & Sorcery, Dirt Rally and so on.
It might not be the best for games that need super low latency like Beatsaber, etc. (I play that locally on the Quest headset anyway)
Just make sure that you don't have anything else on that WIFI network as you wouldn't want interference.

Received the router from Takealot yesterday, did all the setups (Steamlink/Airlink) + separate Wifi.

Airlink came out on top for me. No perceived lag or quality drop in normal games (tested half life alyx, propagation hotel).

Only Beat Saber I'll keep with the cable. Couldn't hit any notes lol.

I just keep a powerbank in my pocket lol but atleast I can do full movements now.

Thanks

Have you tried Virtual Desktop?

It's by far the best Wireless link software.
Does cost about $20 - but if any of us send you a referral code, it's 25% off.

Anyone know of any local places to buy Quest 3 accessories from? Specifically looking for the BoboVR M3 headstrap & battery.

And who else apart from Wootware sells Quest 3 devices locally? I see Takealot is out of stock currently.

I would rather consider going for the BoboVR S3, which was made for the Quest 3.

The M3 was a Quest2 modified/adapter unit to fit on the Quest 3, but wasn't designed for it.

Ah cool, thanks. Almost went for the wrong thing. Anywhere I can get the S3 locally? And if not, how long does delivery from Amazon normally take?

I'm still looking for one myself to be honest.
The price is quite steep, so for now I'm waiting for a drop before investing. Currently 2.5k from Amazon direct

So I decided to try a retrofit of my BovoVR M2 Pro using 3d printed parts. Used the one below, but there are quite a few different ones out there.

Very easy to convert and it fits perfectly! Massive difference from how the stock headstrap fits.

Nice! 3d printing is a rabbit hole I, and my wallet, need to avoid.

The included headstrap is flippen useless. First thing I ordered was a 3rd party one, ended up going with the KIWI which was around R800. Very happy with it. Glad (for now) that I didn't splurge on a battery one as I don't have the thing on for more than 30 minutes at a time.

It's a been a while since i checked in on this thread. So I'm trying to decide between upgrading to the Q3 from my Q2 or grabbing a Steam deck.

Are the pancake lenses easier on the eyes? I have a weaker left eye compared to the right. which results in a nasty headaches when using the Q2 for too long.

What do you plan on using the Q3 for?

I'm loving my Q3 so far, watching series and movies almost daily. I set the lenses as wide as possible and as close to my eyes for the best FOV experience. The Q2 you have to set the IPD to a sweet spot while the Q3 only matters for FOV

Mainly PCVR for flight sims and some standalone games like Beat Saber and Pistol whip.
