I like the idea of all these massive floating screens around me, but every time I set it up, I struggle to find the stuff to actually put on those screens. Sure I could have youtube or netflix or whatever on one screen, maybe two more screens for browsers and email clients, so other work apps... but then what else? I already have two or three decent physical monitors in front of me, depending on where I am, so I don't really need a fourth, fifth, etc... Also, I'm not sure if it's just me but I find quite tricky to drink anything out of a glass, cup, mug, can, etc when I have a VR headset on. Sure, with passthrough on I can actually see what I'm doing but the physical headset on my face gets in the way of taking a sip of anything without a straw.
Those 3 litre kingsley cola bottles works well with Quest 3

Many of these VR/AR reviewers are flip-flopping between how awesome the AVP is to how much of its functions the Quest 3 can do for so much cheaper.

I tend to agree that the Q3 can probably do 80-90% of what the AVP can do, albiet at lower resolution and quality, and then on the flip side, there's a few things that Q3 can do that AVP can't.

Apple can't play a lot of VR games from what I've seen which makes it extremely limited when compared to a Quest 3 where there are great gaming experiences and exercise to be had.

I saw SadlyItsBradly test Synthriders on it which was stuttering and a very poor experience. Didn't seem like there was much else to play on it other than some dinky phone stuff.

It looks like first and foremost a work display, with high quality movie / porn potential.

Imo, this is very much a cash-grab for a v0.5 device which just isn't there yet.
When they can reduce the weight and have a built-in battery with wireless charging, then Apple will have something solid in the hand.

This Holotile Floor (starts at 3:10) by Disney looks like a great way to handle movement in VR. I don't think it would be cheap, but maybe cheaper than an omnidirectional treadmill.

I must say going back to using Virtual Desktop above Airlink has been great. The user experience and image quality is just so much better, even surpasses the quality you would get from connecting the cable.

Another advantage is if you use VDXR, you bypass SteamVR and get more performance and you can do 120hz with it's custom spacewarp SSW, which is far superior to normal Spacewarp.

If you choose SSW, then your target frame becomes 60fps, instead of 72/80/90.
Unfortunately I think Alyx doesn't have OpenVR support so it won't work there, but it works for mostly everything else, including UEVR. This enables you to play games like Tekken8 at 120hz, smoothly by just hitting that 60fps limit.

Could also do 90hz SSW, but to me that just doesn't feel good to me. 120hz SSW is like a sweetspot.

Have you tried Steam Link for VR yet? In my experience, it doesn't look as good as Virtual Desktop but requires less tinkering.

It's good for new people just getting started, but it's very limited. Virtual Desktop is for those who want to "Min/Max" the experience.

How do you guys deal with the cable when playing PCVR?

Thinking of getting something like this:

I'm lucky in that I've never had to deal with wired VR. Maybe get a dedicated WIFI 6 router and Virtual Desktop or / and Steam Link.

Picked up a Quest 3 last week and it's been fun. Superhot and mini golf has been amazing to play. It came with Asgards Wrath 2 which I still need to check out. Swapped the strap out for a kiwi one. Ordered a 3rd party case for it today.

Keen to do some recording / streaming with it, need to figure out how it combines with OBS etc.
