I wouldn't go for a Quest 3 512Gb, unless you don't have a gaming PC to hook it up to.Is there no black friday special on Meta Quest 3 512GB version . (3S lenses apparently not as good as Quest 3 pancake lenses)
I had one of the first Samsung GearVR's for Samsung S9's. It worked well, graphics was good and it was normal lenses. Not fresnel lenses. the FOV was around 90 or 95degree's on plastic optical lenses.I wouldn't go for a Quest 3 512Gb, unless you don't have a gaming PC to hook it up to.
Other than the first month of fooling around and installing apps on it, most people move to Steam VR games which are vastly superior in graphics and price.
If you hold on just a little then a decent group of folks will be buying the Samsung XR and flogging their Quest3's, so you could either pick one up from them, or wait and see what Valve's headset brings to the table as that also seems to be closer to finally releasing.
Personally I'd grab a Quest 3 128Gb for now if you want to get into VR with PC.
You can still install a fair bit of games on the 128gb, but if you install Asgard's Wrath for example, then you won't have much space for other games. Just tackle 2-4 games at a time and uninstall as needed.
Other VR apps are mostly quite small and it's only the big games that chows a lot of storage.

I seen the reviews of Samsung XR and others.. but im not in the market for R35,000+ ($1800 to $2000). I seen a few places selling Quest3 512GB version for around R15,000 and R14,000 and some as low as R13,500. I was hoping a few places might have a special of 30% or 40% off and maybe getting a Quest3 512GB at around R10K mark or R11,000
I didn't have warping blurry edges with the GearVR and ye. i heard that is major issue on fresnel lenses. So the 3S is not an option for me.
I agree with what your saying. If i could get a brand new Quest 3 128GB then it would do the job too. but majority of places i see only has 2nd hand. Only new one's are 512GB versions. and like i mentioned the 3S is not an option with fresnel lenses.I'm not suggesting you buy a Samsung XR at all, but that specials and used ones will arrive as soon as the Samsung XR's are released most likely.
Secondly, why the 500Gb edition?
Onboard games are inferior compared to the PC VR version as the mobile hardware can't compete. Unless you don't have a gaming PC, then that makes sense.
Onboard game prices are sold at full US Dollar fees, so you pay almost double the Steam versions.
The 500Gb Q3 sold for 15k on day 1 direct from Amazon UK. Which my bro purchased.
The 128Gb Q3 sold for 11k, which I purchased.
I'd not pay those prices now, years later. There likely would be Black Friday sales on Amazon UK or US.
I find often that US inflates the Customs fee compared to UK, or on some items, vice versa.
Once you've installed Virtual Desktop on the headset or Steam link, then there's little reason to download other games from the Meta store - so the 500Gb space would go to waste.
Yes, while playing around with the headset the first month you might feel like you wish you had more storage while you're downloading all sorts of stuff and trying it out, but once you've sniffed it all out you'll most likely stick with the best couple of apps and those should fit on the 128gb.

I do have a gaming pc, not the greatest in the world but it's I7 with 32GB RAM and RTX 2080TI so it should run the basics.
I don't see any places that has it on special. or do you have a link . Even if i have to import it. If the price is worth it, i don't spending the courier costs. End of the day it's about the global total including all the price of item + shipping and taxes and duties etc. Sometimes it still works out better vs buying it local.I used to do all my VR gaming on a 2080 until a few months ago. You'll be totally fine with your setup and it can give you a MUCH better experience over the onboard games.
Halflife Alyx will run perfectly on your system and is the #1 VR gaming experience out there.
