I heard that Putin threw a rock at the meteor to deflect its path
Prof. Abel Méndez @ProfAbelMendez
Initial estimates for the Russian Meteor are a 1.5 meters 10 ton object traveling at 15 km/s that disintegrated at a height of 30-50 km.
According to an unconfirmed report in Russia Today, the meteor was intercepted by Russian air defense. Russia's deputy prime minister said Russia does not have the capability to shoot down meteors.

Well at least RT is covering something in Russia for a change
Another one is going to land in the pacific in roughly 6 hours.
If you can watch RT on dstv, some silly folk think it isn't a proper news site but there is a new one coming in 6 hours.
They cover plenty of stuff in russia. Do you watch or read rt much? Plenty stories about russia.
11:30 GMT: Parts of the Chelyabinsk meteorite are 'on sale' on some Russian websites. "Will sell meteorite pieces cheap, photos later," an announcement read.
Wow! How fast was it going for the sonic boom to follow 30 seconds later?
Was this the same meteor they spoke about on the news that said it will miss earth easily on the 15th February and will curve around it
They said it wouldn't cause damage so imagine the other meteors/asteroids they have predicted wrong and will hit the earth's atmosphere.
