Metro 2033 scary?

Now I want to install Doom 3 again. :) Excellent game! I played about 3/4 through when I got my first LCD in '04. But playing Doom 3 on a LCD really spoils it, you lose out on a lot of shadow detail that only a CRT can display correctly. I unplugged my brand new 19" LCD and plugged my old 17" CRT back in till I was finished with the game.

I have started a thread about singularity... whether that was scary or not..

Um.. I just want to know if Metro 2033 is like Bioshock 1 & 1, singularity and Left for dead type

or is it like dear and silent hill or doom 3

Cause I can still play biochock and the others, but fear, doom and silent hill is just too much

So if someone could just fit the game using the above as reference, that would be great..

And I know some people don't find any of the above games scary.. but some do.. Like myself..

Thanks

It has an eerie and foreign atmosphere. Because you also have to face some monsters I suppose it can be quite "chilly" at times. But it's not a game that tries to scare you all the time like say Silent Hill. It's an action game with a slight horror theme. Have you played the original STALKER? I'd say it feels very similar to that.

Do yourself a favor and play Metro 2033. It's fantastic.

I haven't played STALKER before.. but is that also a good game? Like scary type?

Dead Space - is flippen scary. I've gotten halfway twice. (lost the save games by accident.) Still gonna try finish it these holidays.

Metro - haven't played.

FEAR - I couldn't even get through the the training mission( :O just to intense, the sounds, the music, the lighting) Used to play lots of FEAR multiplayer though, that's not too bad. But the stories I've heard about FEAR.

Metro 2033 is not so much scary as the fact the game is about playign something different. The levels are very well designed with alot of neat surprises. I would really suggest you try it. But no it not really scary but there are moments where you scared to go around a corner.

STALKER is very open world with quests and some RPG elements. But the game mechanics feel very much the same, I think some of the devs from Metro 2033 were involved with the STALKER series. Both still manage to be different, but I'd say STALKER is the better game (just make sure you've patched it to the latest version). IMO, STALKER is more scary in the underground levels than Metro, but it's mostly due to the atmosphere.

Stalker = better game? mm

Cools, I guess after I finish Metro, I'll give that a try..

What about Fallout 3 or New Vegas? Are theses also scary games?

Unless you think oblivion is scary then no they are not scary.they run on the same buggy engine as oblivion .

If you're looking for some great "scary" games give all Frictional Games titles a try. Great games, a lot of effort put into them, although I have to say the studio doesn't get the credit they deserve.

Games Include:
Penumbra Overture
Penumbra Requiem
Penumbra Black Plague
Amnesia The Dark Decent

Here's the website: Frictional Games

Yeah.. about that..

I'm not really looking for those games.. But I'll keep in mind NOT to play them lol :P

id have to say doom 3 was the scariest of the lot. finished all the resident evil's for ps2 and pc, almost all the silent hill's but doom 3 is kind of hectic. Metro 2033 does a good job and i enjoyed it very much , reminded me of stalker games but just a little more fast paced and pretty ;)

fallout new vegas can be scary if you try fight enemies with the wrong weapons , best is fighting the zombies with melee weapons and then they explode because they dont have armor and if you have that exploding body parts perk ... more hilarious than scary , im not afraid at all when i have to fight 7 zombies at a time because i know they will come second.

Oh .. well I haven't played Oblivion.. So do you still fight like weird things that pop up in the middle of nowhere?

Kinda, lets just say you don't want to fight against a deathclaw in new vegas unless you have a fatman or a rocket launcher.i swear those things cut you up so fast.i found out the hunting rifle with armor piercing ammo works great against deathclaws.just be sure to switch to normal ammo when ur done blastign their armor to bits.
