Well, they point fingers it's Metro Fibre and now you say it's Home Connect.

During the day there is no packet loss. Come night time its packet loss.

Care to explain?
It doesn't matter who is causing the loss, your ISP is responsible to have it resolved.

We bring this up quite often with them, but given their current pricing as an estimate we would be looking at something like R1999 for a 500/500 on Metrofibre.
That is a rather high price, but the upload speed would justify the price. I suspect they know not many will take up 500/500 at that price however

Why are they so expensive at higher speeds compared to other FNOs?
It can't be down to their choice of GPON since other GPON FNOs don't seem to be anywhere close to being that expensive at 500.

Just some interesting info. A single MetroFibre install can accommodate up to 4 lines on the same TP as there are 4 x strands. The only issue might be availability at the splitter.

Pretty stable I think. Busy with some uploads now I will do a test a bit later.
Do I live with this or risk going round and round with support? It's not really affecting me (except the OCD, but had a scare when RD stopped working last night), just stopping me posting 1ms ping speedtests:
This is on an idle line, 2.5sec intervals:

Let me log it with MetroFibre to see what the jitter from Teraco Durban to your ONT looks like.

Which is the best ISP to go for on Metrofibre?
Best price and service?
Something closest to the Telkom R399 offer for 25mbs.

Honestly, very few ISP's are going to be offering a 25/25 on Metrofibre for that price given the costs and line rental fees charged by them.

Welcome to the thread!

R10 000 civil work and materials or 15 meters whichever comes first.
They came to install today at my place and the run is 75 meters but they said they only do 50 meters free and I need to pay for the balance of the 25 meters so not sure how it works

Yeah we cover up to 30 and I think at 50m they are quite generous. They will quote you on the remaining meters.

Seems like MetroFibre won't be responding to OpenServe making 500Mbps available?
