Burnt my fingers with afrihost long ago. Never returning there. Learnt my lesson with others too.
FWIW, I deliberately went onto HelloPeter and searched for their highly rated ISPs from which I chose MTS.
I'm really sorry to hear that. I recommend Afrihost to everyone who asks about ISP's, sure they're a bit more expensive but the customer service has been excellent, well for me at least. I've been with them for about 10 yrs now I think.

There are always outages, at the very least once a week, but sometimes up to 4 times a week.

Rubbish network IMO
Been OK for me over the last two years.

Issues experienced were attributed to:
2 x Cable theft near POP - took out large areas - thieves mistook fibre for copper - seems thieves are not well trained to identify copper in the middle of the night.
3 x JHB Water dug up cables - we have regular burst pipes in our area.
Most of these were re-spliced in a day to two.

Fibre breaks isn't something the FNO can control...if there are a lot of breaks in the area it's usually because of vandalism or a lot of construction in the area. Not something they can prevent.

never had this with linkafrica for nearly 3 years? only since these chaps took over, the issues i've experienced this year havent been breaks, i was down for 2 days once because they misconfigured something their side....

but im glad to know that most people are happy, and that what im experiencing is unusual, so there is hope they can fix it.

Install smokeping, setup an hourly speedtest (plot in grafana), winmrt, etc
Send data to ISP+MetroFibre

There's apparently an area-wide Metrofibre outage affecting Centurion today. Hopefully it gets resolved sooner rather than later.

Yep down on my end as well.

Kindly note that there is an outage that may affect your client services in Amberfield. Ticket 163726, engineers are being dispatched to attend to the issue. Please accept our deepest apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Mpho

Seems like someone (another ISP) already published the new speeds. Interesting.
