Which ISP are you using on the MFN Network?

OPPS - I'm too eager.
Thanks for the feedback about the latency issues. Interestingly, while doing the usual checks with the MWEB consultant about my latency issues, I discovered the speed upgrade was in effect and after changing my router QOS settings I now have the upgraded double speed (much earlier than the 1st July date Mweb advised).

Ok, I'm up and running on 500/500 now. Issue was because a QOS configuration on my Deco router. If I'd known we'd been bumped up already I would have changed the QOS settings sooner.
I had the same thing but it was my upload lol
Had my QoS set to 100 when they upgraded me to 200.

Which ONT/Router device will be supplied by MetroFibre if we sign up for a new 20Mbps/20Mbps FTTH service on the MetroFibre network ?
We are in the Lyttelton area in Centurion where the new MetroFibre is being installed now.

I was given a Calix Gigapoint 803Gv2 last year.

Hi, I was told this morning that when I sign up for a new 20Mbps/20Mbps FTTH service from MetroFibre on the MetroFibre network, I will be given a Calix 844G ONT/router.

Question: Will I have access to the ONT/router to configure my home network with a customised setup for items like router IP address for home network and DHCP address range for my home network devices, Wifi network name and password ? Or will the router configuration for the Home Network be locked down by MetroFibre with default values that cannot be changed by me, like I had with a previous ISP ?

For example, I would like to change the default router IP address on the Home Network to an address that is different from the default 192.168.1.1 address.

Hi guys, so I have a question about my network setup.

I currently have my Nokia ONT from MFN that is connected to my modem/router as a bridge and then to my Google mesh WiFi for the actual WiFi network. Is it possible to plug the Google mesh straight into ONT? Also if I do this and completely bypass my Archer VR400 router then I can use my ethernet cable that runs to my pc.

Please advise

If you go with Metro Fibre ISP they give you the Calix 812 or the Calix 844. You get non admin login details to change basic stuff like wifi name and password etc. Whether it will allow you to change the ONT IP and wifi bands wtc I'm not too sure maybe someone that has this setup can confirm. Sam setup in Nokia roll outs except they give you the Nokia all in one ONT.

If you pick an ISP then it switches to open access and the ONT is the calix 803v2 or the nokia equivelent and your ISP or you get to plug in your own device which will do the PPPoE or DHCP depending on the ISP.

It depends. Does the Google mesh have routing capabilities? If so then you can set up the Google mesh as the router and enable PPPoE or DHCP depending on what your ISP uses. You don't always have to use the ISP router. Some might have a clause where you need to ask for the pppoe details or permission to use your own hardware but I don't think ISP's block you out right unless if they don't want to give you the PPPoE credentials.

I did this with my TPLink Deco mesh. My ISP had given me the details I needed to set up the PPPoE previously.

Cloudflare issue
Using MetroFibre + MWEB - having a cloudflare issue connecting to:
https://powerforum.co.za/
Works fine on LTE (MTN & Cell-C)
Anyone else having same issue?

EDIT: Working after I let powerforum admin know of problem, not sure what was done.

Anyone else struggling with constant disconnects since around 12pm. Saw on Cool Ideas that there is some problem in Pretoria.
I am in the PTA North area.

Yes, I'm also in PTA-North area and also experiencing an intermittent connection. I know of another Metrofibre client a few blocks from me with exactly the same problem. The Afrihost website has got a notice on as well as Metrofibres own website.

Issues here in Northern PTA still not completely solved. We at least have connectivity now, but latency is bad and DL/UL is slow on a 500/500. But I see the notices are still up and I assume they are still busy fixing.

Had anyone on MWEB received the speed bump?

It's scheduled for 1st June 2022.
I'm still waiting.
We were upped from 25 to 50 although I am not getting full 50 yet. Average between 35 and 40 for download. Need to contact them to query it
