Metrofibre Feedback

Which ISP are you using on the MFN Network?

Saw the Metro Fiber announcement and did a sped test. my 50/50 package now reaches 92/95 so basically 100/100

Now as I understand I should be able to reach 250/250 if I am not mistaken. but I now wonder, the router I have, I assume will have normal 10/100 Ethernet ports, as do most of their other users routers. does this then mean one should get a new router with gigabit ports? otherwise what is the point of 100/100 + upgrades if most of their users can not use it?

Or would you be able to "draw" say 50/50 on each port simultaneously, if you have four ports? or will the router only be able to do 25/25 on each port.

Hope my questions make sense
Yes, you need a new router with gigabit ports.

I thought as much...

Will call them tomorrow.

When I lived in KZN I had a GPON to which a router connected. and on my MF setup the fiber runs directly into the router (so I assume built in GPON) will this then not make it harder to buy "normal aftermarket" routers?

For what I do online, even the 50/50 was more than enough, and then some. but part of me feels giving out upgrades to those "insane speeds" is moot if most people cant easily make use of it. if that is the case same speeds at 5X lower prices would have a better deal to the user base... and why no upgrade in speed or better price on their 20/20 offering?

Still nice getting more for the same, even without getting the full upgrade. so no real complaints

If you are with MetroFibre direct, you use the ONT as a router right? The ONT should have gigabit ports.

Checked, I have a Calix 845G-1 router. from what I gather over Here my router has 1 GB Ethernet ports. will grab a pci 1 GB Ethernet card and pop it into my tower. onboard LAN probably my bottleneck

Hi, Upgraded my 500/500 with CISP to 1000/250, Re-provision was done, but my speeds are all messed up still. Also there has been problems with my line ever since i migrated from WebAfrica to CISP (probably a configuration issue which no one has admitted as yet).

Upload wont go over 150 and my download wont go over 500, I see a lot of you guys getting 500 upload, Is this only if you are MFN (FNO) and MFN (ISP)?

According to this notice from the first it looks like all ISP's got the 500Mbps upload speed bump on 1Gbps lines.
