Metrofibre Direct have reach new lows

we opened a new line with them which is active.
all i have requested from them is the PPPoE login details so that i can add them to my Asus Router.
we are now 3 weeks down the line and they are now referring me to a "wifi specialist" as they cannot assist.

i am really holding back with not using foul language here

how hard is it to supply PPPoE login details?
how is it that the support at Metrofibre has no clue what this is?

how the hell do i get this details from such incompetent idiots?

please let me know if i have posted this in the wrong section

They don't use PPPoE. You can plug your Asus router into their ONT/router and use it as a AP.

I have similar setup on my Cybersmart link.

How did you get the PPPoE details the first time?

Looks like there’s a Metrofibre issue in Centurion? Internet went down and I see MFN downdetector spiking…

Saw an email about Afrihost bumping up their Metrofibre prices, the 50/50 is increasing with R100.

Quite a few FNO's are doing price bumps on lower end and reductions on the higher end now. We have spent a good week sorting out pricing, only for Openserve to go NUTS over their speeds and packages.
Our MFN pricing adjustments will go live with our new site, so we have been a little silent on here.

A quick update regarding stability: We have seen a few speed issues on MFN when it comes to the wrong port (download speed) being applied with the correct upload speed. Some clients going with 250 down but 500 upload etc. But their network as a whole is more stable in KZN.

Lastly we hope they don't go downhill and start undercutting every single ISP with their direct clients... that is not a pretty road and have seen that with a few (wont name of course) FNO's.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic Is there any confirmation that the 50/50 will be bumped to 250/250 alongside the R100 increase? I feel like I read one of you say that somewhere but I forgot.

question for the metrofibre guys here, moving ISP's on Metrofibre, is it a straightforward or is is complicated?

reason Being I WAS on Afrihost moving to VOX same package speed, 20/20 but ISP is changing,
VOX says they cant allocate my Fsan number to their network, because its still in use, but I just checked with afrihost, says its cancelled,

what needs to happen still or is there a cool off period or something weird going on here.

Usually when you cancel, it can take up to 30 days for the line to be released, so the new ISP can take over it
What is your reasoning for leaving Afrihost to go to Vox?

price was a bit better, but 30 days is a bit extreme, so a month without internet? nobody told me that....
if I decide to reactivate it on the old ISP, will it be quick? or is it a long drawn out process?

Why change to an ISP with no Afrinatic? I'm happy with AH/MFN for almost 2 years now.

Can I be honest, Afrihost is more expensive, but you have the convenience of having @Afrigirl and @AfriNatic able to assist you with any issues, trust me when I say this, they sort stuff out quickly
But yea 30 days is long, on Vox you also won't be able to get access to the router
I would highly recommend you stay on Afrihost, they are more expensive, but with Afrigirl and Afrinatic able to assist you, makes it very much worth it

Ive asked them a few times to sort things out, was okay I guess, but recently wasn't great, had some weird IP conflicts, and constantly asked me to re-authenticate on to their network,
literally every second, I'd open a page and it wanted to re-authenticate and send me a OTP that never came. got frustrating,

so I guess I wanted to look elsewhere, I might rejoin afrihost, if it seems worse at VOX, but 30 days is an extreme length of time to wait to cancel a fibre line,
is this normal? I thought its simply a switch and everything moves, without much hassles,

guess so, but could always come back if I dont like it, but I want to know if AFTER cancelling with AFH its still 30 days for the Fibre line to be released.
thats insane! or is it just metrofibre.
You might find there is a minimum period you have to stay with Vox to avoid cancellation fees.
