@keill, not sure if there is confusion, but I meant like a firewall in place, between fibre router and LAN?
As for VPN, I meant connecting with one, even to overseas servers, and testing then?

"Metrofibre Notification: Network outage experienced. Dear customer we are aware of a network issue that is affecting internet connectivity. Our technicians are busy working on resolving the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience caused."

That's the message I received. Initially I thought all good as the speed test worked at advertised speeds. But like everyone else... Sporadic timeouts ... I need to try a few times before page loads

Edit: what is the best way to get hold of support... metro fibre worx

I think I signed up November .. they installed Wednesday. That same Saturday I was down.

There have one or two other incidents (last was a few weeks ago) but they generally sorted the next day. The is probably my 5th incident and I think I'm at 4 days.

I'm not sure how we could differ though :/

Heard this is maybe a Seacom thing?

That is just unlucky I guess, but it seems like Metrofibre differs from installation to installation, I must just have got lucky.

Response I got when asking them what's up with the internet ...This was at 18h30

"Hi,

Hoping +- 1 hour…

We are about to replace a piece of equipment that we believe is causing an issue"

Hi there, has this been resolved? I still couldn't access the network this morning :(

I am in Kyalami, had issues earlier this week, which due to a fibre break in there core, now speed is good,
Ping: 9ms
Download: 93.72Mbps
Upload: 93.86Mbps, ping a bit high due to testing on Wifi.

I use the google DNS and all pages seem to opening correctly.

I was a MFN customer last week and moved over to Cool Ideas (as of yesterday) and received an SMS from MFN that they were expereincing some issues last night, that was affecting some customers.

Still haven't recieved/heard if they have resolved the issue.

Hopefully duing the day it will be fixed, in time for the weekend :D
