For an MG it is certainly not a bad looking car, and it's incredibly good value for the bells and whistles it comes with. Seeing as I'm on a tight budget, I'm contemplating the Turbo at the moment. I can get a good deal for the Turbo at R259,000.00

I'm quite dubious about MG's future, considering their turmoil, so some advice here would be appreciated...

No, no, no. Friends don't let friends buy MG's

I actually reckon it's ugly. Limited dealer network which probably means long waiting periods for parts and like you said as brand it's gone through a lot of turmoil and there is no certainty as to their future.

I reckon take your money and buy japanese/korean, at least you know they are reliable and won't depreciate to nothing within a week. Look at KIA, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota. Hyundia Sonata would be cool but slightly more expensive unless you have very good bargaining skills.

Saw a MG6 Turbo in the metal on Friday and found it quite attractive actually. But with that being said, I wouldn't touch MG with a pole reaching from here to the moon, unless you like the idea of what happened to Hummer owners with massive depreciation.

Depreciation on a vehicle means nothing to me. I couldn't care how a car holds its value. I buy cars for pleasure, not for financial incentive. My issues are reliability and parts availability, as pointed out, so I need to do some digging around.

I would never have considered it had it not been pointed out to me in a mall last week. Sat in it, played with it a bit, scared the crap out of grannies when I revved it. I quite enjoyed it. I've been looking at the Kia Optima as well as the Honda CRZ. As an ex-Honda Civic Vxi driver I'm a huge fan of the brand, but this MG6 gives me a some cash to play with as well.

So far this is pure emotion driving me, so to speak. Logically the brain agrees - no, no, no...

I think you should listen to your brain because when things go wrong your emotions are gonna do a 180.

Why no Type R?

I quite like the Kia Optima. The engine is a bit of a let-down but the rest of the car's pretty awesome.

Seriously DJ? You just won a MacBook Air and you want to drive something this hideous? It will refuse to get into that car with you. Come on! :p

I think that rear end was designed in Rio De Janeiro. It's pretty good to look at. The front lets it down a bit...

Hideous looking car.
I always took DJ... for a sophisticated bloke and not a tweed cardigan wearing old man.

The XFR is still my 1st choice but I can't afford it. I've pumped all my cash into a few new businesses and spending cash on vehicles is not a priority. Hell, maybe I'll buy an old Mini...
