MG6. Your thoughts...?

Hell, maybe I'll buy an old Mini...

I still want to do that actually and use it for a bit of classic rallying. You can get a hint over 100bhp reliably out of those 1275cc engines which is plenty for such a small, light car with a relatively short gearbox. My current challenge is that I just don't have space to keep the thing and secondly, finding a relatively rust-free round-nose is pretty tough these days.

volvo c30 ?

If you're going to be silly, how about a Giulietta? You can pick them up with a pretty hefty discount which brings it well into your budget. Can't speak on reliability but apparently it's not bad.

I know of one that's just been fixed up very nicely and souped up a bit. Still in awesome knick. Available for R30k, rust-free...;)

I must just point out that I usually despise hatchbacks. This MG6 caught my eye because it's really big and in person does not look or feel like a hatchback...

It looks like the retarded long lost step sister of the Panemera.

Low mileage S60 is what I would be looking at, if I was in the market for a sedan.

Your choices are weird DJ... MG6 (it IS ugly), Optima (not bad)... and CRZ (huh?).

I quite like the rear of the MG6. The Optima is also not bad looking but I test drove it once and the performance is terrible. CRZ is if I go two-door. I like the CRZ and am a Honda fan.

If I'm going Volvo it would be for the C70...

Just buy the MG then, but please be man enough to post all its failures once the infatuation fizzles out so all of in this thread can say, we told you so! :)

There was a MG dealership close to my work. Lasted a total of 3 months or so...

DJ..., from your responses thus far I don't know if this has quite registered yet: you're considering buying a Chinese car. Why, why would you do that?

Just... No.

:(

Oh don't tempt me. I was told today that I'm getting a bonus month end that would cover that with a bit of tuning and sprucing up. My wife would kill me.

I know, I know.

I think I'm gonna stick with taking over one of the older company vehicles and then save up for the Jag XFR or XJ...

He's selling it. Could probably knock off a grand if I ask him nicely for you...
