Only when the old boys club is dismantled, then and then only will SA win a world cup.
Otherwise they will choke choke choke like always.......
Amla is my choice for captain.......
But I guess his beard is a big concern for some people.

It's insane to call for Smith to be axed, he's one of the best openers in the world. We need to look for someone to open with him. As for the new coach, I'd like to see Kepler given the job.

At least Amla had one season.
What did Smith do to deserve it ?

If Amla was white, your opinion would be different!

Wonder who will bring out a book first...

Micky Arthur's True Story - How they held me down!
or
Graeme Smith's True Story - He never got up!
or
Jacque Kallis and Mark Boucher's True Story - Not even this, can we do alone!

Something needed to be done, I think Graeme should just be coach aswell ;) His arrogant enough to do it...

Lets not turn this into a race thing...

Really. Amla happens to be one of my favorite batsmen. That doesn't make him a captain and the same applies to AB. They are not captaincy material.

Well well, I thought something was amiss with the lackluster performance of the team during the drawn England test series. We should have win the series hands down!! Tossed down??

The tail is wagging the dog. Smith should stay on as a player but not as captain. He had way too much power and I blame him even more than Arthur for the series draw vs England.

It was neither the captain nor the coach who cost us the England home series. The fact is our bowlers couldn't take wickets. You can't blame Smith or Arthur for lack of penetration from our bowlers.

What got my blood boiling was the late declarations. I left the room a few times to cool down, only to come back and see us still batting merrily away. I blame Smith, perhaps wrongly, for this.
There might be a case for arguing that the third test declaration was after building a bigger score than we needed, but it was hardly too late. Smith left our bowlers 140 overs to get ten wickets ... on the fourth and fifth day of a test. We shouldn't have NEEDED more overs to take ten wickets.

Smith has done what exactly?

Amla? are you freaking joking dude!? he's lucky to be in the side

Kallis and Boucher both declined it before it was given to Smith iirc

Gibbs will be an awesome captain lmao :D:D:D

Shane Warne for coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not as silly as it seems...arguably one of the most respected in technical knowledge, notwithstanding his indiscretions as a player. I think most people just dislike him because he was so bloody good to be honest...

...nd at least you will get someone who gets on well with Smith

I heard the commentators a few weeks ago saying that many cricketers who played before 1994 have been left out out of the whole set-up, which is a shame because we all know they have much-needed experience and skills. It is completely irrelevant, from a purely cricketing POV, that they played under an apartheid government. But as with everything, it's not politically attractive.

So which test player prior to 90's would you pick as coach?

You are basically limited to the team that played in late 60's...eg Richards, bacher, Pollocks, Proctor et al...probably Richards is only one vguely interested, but the problem is that coaching today has moved towards facilitating the analysis rather than actual test experience of 40 yrs ago...nd test cricket only played against NZ, Eng and Aus (only countries that defied 1960 ban)

...or are you talking about those that played domestic cricket in the isolation period? Who exactly...that devisive Clive Rice.

Lets move into the modern era without questioning the politics...there are many suitably qualified modern technicians who would fit the bill...don't take a step backward by dredging up old names and/or conservative players such as Jennings and Kepler resp.

The issue is he has never coached a first class side, only t20. but personally I would have no issue with either warne or someone like steve waugh. Would prefer wessels but some of the aussies and richard pybus are good options.
