Microsoft haters and XBox

Now, #1 we've all lived with based on alot of excuses like "it is cheaper" , but the PS3 is now finally right up there in price.
Some, not all. The PS3 has hardly been problem-free. And now they're probably pretty much the same. And it's not like Sony have not sold defective products in the past.

True, but i'm certain repairing and getting your warranties sorted out on Sony products is alot faster and easier than Microsoft products....

..and remember there's still the blue-ray drive in the mix there. So purely on the hardware front, you seriously have to wonder what exactly does the Xbox bring to the table now for the price?

better graphics and more games

Personally i do not give a crap about hate or dislike, if a company makes a good product i will buy it.

although the ps3 is just legend. Xbox as mentioned is pretty poor, costs about the same as a ps3 and offers no blu ray. I am not sure what xbox brings to the table, glad this forum has a good console section because i was thinking of buying an xbox glad i never did.

Not everyone wants the same from a console. I couldn't care less about bluray. I already own a Xbox and Wii, and I've been looking for an excuse to buy a PS3, but apart from Uncharted 2, I can't think of a single reason.

Well why would you want a playstation if you already own a xbox?

Makes no sense, i am talking about someone who has to make the choice, xbox or ps3. Tell me one reason why someone would opt for the xbox and not the ps3?

Maybe they like RROD, Multiplats and paying for an online service?

would you like a spoon to help you stir? :p

do not go there...

My 2c:

I had to make the choice recently; XBox 360 or PS3. I went for the PS3.

RROD scared me. So did Powercare's attitude regarding repairs. If anyone remembers my thread from a few months ago:

My friend is still waiting to get his (DOA) Jasper back, even after sending daily emails and making weekly phone calls to them. Shocking.

Other things that drew me to PS3:
1) I prefer GT5 over Forza (personal preference)
2) I DO care about Bluray
3) I prefer a lighter controller
4) I MUCH prefer XMB to the XBox dashboard
5) PS3 has built-in wireless
6) I can upgrade the hard drive myself at a fraction of the cost without voiding the warranty; going to 500GB one of these days for less than R1000
7) HDMI-CEC
8) Built-in power supply (I hate those external bricks)
9) Slot-load drive
10) Quieter
11) Free PSN
12) Local PSN downloads
13) True 1080p on my exclusives
14) Ability to toggle between various video modes to suit games/video better

Now some of these may not matter to others. And I may be misinformed about some of them. But the missing (or hard to find) features in XBox/Dashboard pushed me away from the Microsoft console.

Things that are great about XBox:
1) Games are generally cheaper (older games, I mean)
2) Gears of War :( :( :(
3) Excellent integration with Windows Media Center

Now (1) doesn't matter TOO much to me, because the price difference is only like R50, and it's not like I'm buying new games daily. (2) is a bit of a bummer, but if I'd gone for XBox, then I'd be missing out on GT5 and Uncharted too. (3) Also isn't a huge thing for me, because I don't use Windows.

These reasons sum up why I chose to go for the PS3, and I've never been happier. But of course, that's just me.

I hate everything - own a PSX, PS2, PS3, XBOX, XBOX 360 :D

What? No Wii? :D

I own PS2, PSP x 2 (both fattys), PS3, 360 and Wii.
I drop kicked my xbox and I swopped my psx + games for GOW :D.

+1 on everything.

Honestly the only game I have played on my 360 in the past year is GOW2.

Hey guys this thread wasn't meant to be about choosing Xbox or PS3 but that's where it went. I just wanted to see if the fanatical Microsoft haters went out and bought a Microsoft product anyway.

In my opinion its the (added) ability to play copied games is the only reason the 360 is so popular. That will see the MS haters (with ripped versions of Win 7 on their pc's) getting 360's.

Well said bud. We took note that the old Xbots arguments vanished in the wind as we all predicted, now they only grapel for straws or dropped silent completely. Many or most of their arguments was not even fact but they believed it. As the title say most of the bots prolly hated Microsoft and bought the Xbox anyway and thus needed to take out their frustrations on something, so they chose the PS3 as BashBox. Anyway I like/love Microsoft and one day, if it grows up, I will buy an eXBox just to play Halow and because I can also buy into cheapskate.

See, another grapeled straw!

Well i prefer free online gaming, the ps3 works 100% as a media center which is awesome.

I am super happy with my purchase, the thought of 700 rand games scares me but yea i guess that is life eh.

i dont play games as much as i would like to (had ps3 for 4 months and only played like 10 stages on colin mcrae dirt) but I use the PS3 daily to watch movies and series from my 500GB external hdd.

I also stream video and audio wirelessly from my PC in my study, and my laptop wherever it may be.

i own a 40" full HD samsung lcd and enjoy really high quality video (i will never watch a cam version of a movie) and wanted to get a bluray player, which the ps3 doubles as.

so for me this was really a no-brainer..... you want to play games only, either will do depending on the titles you prefer. You want added value, the ps3 is the way to go... and damn it looks sexy next to the 40" samsung...
