Yes but she doesn't have to take it to a shop to get it fixed.

Some, not all. The PS3 has hardly been problem-free. And now they're probably pretty much the same. And it's not like Sony have not sold defective products in the past. Now, #1 we've all lived with based on alot of excuses like "it is cheaper" , but the PS3 is now finally right up there in price.

True, but i'm certain repairing and getting your warranties sorted out on Sony products is alot faster and easier than Microsoft products....
..and remember there's still the blue-ray drive in the mix there. So purely on the hardware front, you seriously have to wonder what exactly does the Xbox bring to the table now for the price?
Personally i do not give a crap about hate or dislike, if a company makes a good product i will buy it.
although the ps3 is just legend. Xbox as mentioned is pretty poor, costs about the same as a ps3 and offers no blu ray. I am not sure what xbox brings to the table, glad this forum has a good console section because i was thinking of buying an xbox glad i never did.
Well why would you want a playstation if you already own a xbox?
Makes no sense, i am talking about someone who has to make the choice, xbox or ps3. Tell me one reason why someone would opt for the xbox and not the ps3?

This thread is going to be turned to crap soon if it carries on.would you like a spoon to help you stir?
do not go there...
I hate everything - own a PSX, PS2, PS3, XBOX, XBOX 360![]()
My 2c:
I had to make the choice recently; XBox 360 or PS3. I went for the PS3.
RROD scared me. So did Powercare's attitude regarding repairs. If anyone remembers my thread from a few months ago:

My friend is still waiting to get his (DOA) Jasper back, even after sending daily emails and making weekly phone calls to them. Shocking.
Other things that drew me to PS3:
1) I prefer GT5 over Forza (personal preference)
2) I DO care about Bluray
3) I prefer a lighter controller
4) I MUCH prefer XMB to the XBox dashboard
5) PS3 has built-in wireless
6) I can upgrade the hard drive myself at a fraction of the cost without voiding the warranty; going to 500GB one of these days for less than R1000
7) HDMI-CEC
8) Built-in power supply (I hate those external bricks)
9) Slot-load drive
10) Quieter
11) Free PSN
12) Local PSN downloads
13) True 1080p on my exclusives
14) Ability to toggle between various video modes to suit games/video better
Now some of these may not matter to others. And I may be misinformed about some of them. But the missing (or hard to find) features in XBox/Dashboard pushed me away from the Microsoft console.
Things that are great about XBox:
1) Games are generally cheaper (older games, I mean)
2) Gears of War![]()
![]()
3) Excellent integration with Windows Media Center
Now (1) doesn't matter TOO much to me, because the price difference is only like R50, and it's not like I'm buying new games daily. (2) is a bit of a bummer, but if I'd gone for XBox, then I'd be missing out on GT5 and Uncharted too. (3) Also isn't a huge thing for me, because I don't use Windows.
These reasons sum up why I chose to go for the PS3, and I've never been happier. But of course, that's just me.

I think "Value" can be quite a difficult notion for the xbots to swallow. You want added value, the ps3 is the way to go... and damn it looks sexy next to the 40" samsung...
