Brand new Jasper Xbox 360. Controller worked out-the-box. Tried to associate a second controller, but then realised that the ring of light on the console shows NO light. So the second controller would not associate. Tried to re-associate the original controller, and that failed. Now I have 2 controllers that won't associate.

Since the ring of light doesn't show anything, can't see any swirl on the console when the console sync button is pressed. Tried holding it in too. Controllers both show swirling ring of light when sync button on them is pressed. This continues without success until it stops and the ring of light flashes all four quadrants green instead of a single quadrant being lit up green indicating the association.

Console boots up fine to dashboard or a game. Has been working fine; haven't noticed any issues.

Power supply LED is green, indicating good power.

Checked, double-checked and triple-checked cable connections. They're all securely connected and making contact.

Can't remember if ring of light on the console was ever working.

I've done some research, with no success. Most people either RMA'd it, or had it randomly start working again.

Has anyone else had this and been able to sort it out? Kind of hoping for it to be something silly instead of waiting weeks without a console.

never had such a problem ! best of luck getting it fixed though ! or maybe pm maestro he might have a solution since he deals with 360 problems on a daily basis

Had this happen before. Leave the controller off, boot the console into the dashboard, then switch the controller on. Be sure to aim the controller directly at the black receiver when switching it on.

Bear in mind that not only does the ring of light not work, but the centre part doesn't light up to say that it's on

the infrared reciever on the 360 is only there for the xbox 360 remote ;) ! the controllers operate on wireless frequencies like a wireless mouse

lol i laughed so hard wen he said point it at the black receiver lol lol.

I think it's common sense. :P Wireless =/= IR

Take your XBox back to the shop and ask for a new one if the Power LED doesnt even light up.

We know that! :p

But how many people know that it's an IR receiver for the remote without making an effort to read about it?

I could tell it's an IR receiver just by looking at it. It's not that hard to figure out.
