Mid-range 4x4 options

This looks awesome. Not sure if it's a bit pricey for your liking, but it's got everything!

That's the top of the range turbo, but normal ones start at 339 for the 2.0 manual, then 374 for the X auto, and 407 for the XS auto. The Turbo is 529 so quite a bit more.

P.S.

They all have reverse camera, blue tooth, climate control, USB/iPod connection, cruise control, hill descent, stop start technology, and the XS is keyless.

Bull dust my man. Freelander 2 is heavier than the Cherokee.

This was in 2012 when i bought my freelander and the cherokee has changed substantially since then. And yes it was heavier albeit it slightly when looking at the specs. But it felt a helluva lot heavier when driving (the tank effect). So chill. The cherokee I drove was the one in the link below. The new one is completely different. I guess I should have made it known what I was comparing. Sorry.

Does it really have to be 4x4 ??? You end up paying so much more for it compared to the 2x4 options that are more than adequate at doing your usual dirt roads. Reason I'm asking is because I've owned a 4x4 before and only really used it for that purpose 3 - 4 times.

If you considering 2x4 your options are so much more attractive :D

Yes, it has to be 4x4 because I occasionally go places a 2x4 might not reach.

Ja, the problem may be without a turbo at the reef the car goes off the line like a Voortrekker ox-wagon.

Ok seriously OP, what is your budget and are you looking at new/used?

Look I would say about R500-550k new and R350-400k for a 2013 model? If I'm not over enamoured with any of them I'd rather save myself some bucks, and buy a used vehicle, and wallow in money rather than self-pity :-P

Right, in that case I'd agree with the below:

Also check out the Pajero Sport.

Very capable, comfortable vehicles and priced well.
