I've been looking around for a MiFi device recently & I was surprised at how most of them are priced. It's not like 600 bucks is a bad price for such a device but I've come across some entry level droids that are just as fast, HSPA+, & in some cases cost a bit less. Now, assuming all these droids have the tethering & hotspot options available, it would seem that the MiFi devices are overpriced considering the additional hardware & functionality u get with a droid, regardless of the quality of the user experience. Are there any MiFi devices that are cheaper than 600 bucks that I've missed? Does anyone have any experience using devices like the Alcatel Pixi 2, the Huawei Y220 or similar devices as modems? Or should I just rather stick to the more pricey Huawei MiFi range?

With the mifi devices, you get access to data logs if I remember correctly.

If you just want a mifi device then get a mifi device.

Also the battery life on mifi should be better.

I spottet a Huawei E5330 for R599, I think I'll go buy it this weekend. Never thought to compare batteries so thanks.
