Hi guys!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but if not perhaps someone can point me in the right direction, asseblief.

So heres the story. For the last 8 years i have had Telkom ADSL which comes with a free email address. Over this time i have subscribed to dozens of services using this email, all my accounts are linked to this email, everything i have ever done is linked to this email. And now i am planning to cancel my telkom line in favour of fibre through a different ISP. This will also cancel my email service with telkom and i will lose access to the email address that contains the last 8 years of my life.
So what i need to know from you lovely people is.. Can i pay telkom for just the use of the email address? is there an easy way to migrate every account i have made with this address over to a new address? Is there any way to move all the emails across to a different address?

Thank you very much

Hi Darr,

I'd recommend downgrading your Telkom account to email only, which they usually ask a small fee of roughly R25 p/m for. Then set up the Telkom account inside Gmail, and setup Gmail as your only POP3 account in Outlook. (Or use the Gmail interface, whichever you're comfortable with)

Reply to everyone using the Gmail account, and let people know you wish to phase out the old Telkom account. Keep the Telkom account for the next few years just incase, or go ahead and cancel if you see no one is using it at all anymore after sufficient time has passed.

Telkom should offer stand-alone e-mail packages, can't seem to find them but do see references on Telkom's forums.
I would suggest that you start moving those account emails over to your gmail account.

Thank you very much for the help! I've been struggling to find info on their websites and their callcentre is useless, will have to go into the branch to talk to them.

This is one of the friendliest and most helpful online communities I've found, glad i finally made an account
