:oPlease could one of the Gurus on MikroTik please assist.

I have a standard Telkom ADSL line, TelkomSA ADSL internet with a Billion 800VGT router. I have three pc's connected to this router. Two PC's are running XP and the other is running Vista and a laptop connects wireless. I can connect to the internet on all these PC's. I have allocated Static IP addresses to the PC's. 10.0.0.100, 10.0.0.101 and 10.0.0.102.

On the spare ethernet port I have set up a hotspot. I am using a MikroTik RB400 router v3.20 with Ether1 IP 10.0.0.103 (IP dhcp got from Billion router).

After running the hotspot setup package in winbox, when I try to access the internet via the hotspot, I am rerouted to the login page and asked for a username and password.:)

I can issue vouchers via userman. This all works fine.

Now comes the problems:

1)The username and password generated by userman don't work. Error = username or password invalid (only usernam “admin” works)
2)If I login with the admin username, the username is accepted BUT I still can not access the internet.
:mad:The first problem occurs with Windows Vista (I have not tried any other OS)
:sick:The second problem, I presume, is because no authentication (for the Telkom ADSL internet) has taken place.

What am I forgetting, where have I gone wrong.

1) you need to configure the hotspot to point to the user manager for authentication - this is done via the IAS settings if I remember correctly.

2) did you set up NAT on the wireless interface? is the default route set correctly?

if you do a traceroute from the wireless to anywhere, what does it look like?

Thanks normanr

It turned out that I had to enter my broadband username and password in the Billion router setup (under PPP). :D
I still can not seem to access the web with the username and password issued by userman. I still get the same result: username or password invalid.

if there is anyone out there that knows how to fix this error or who has the same problem, please provide feedback

Thanks
David

hey there

I've sorted out the problem. In winbox - ip - hotspot - server profile, select the default and set that up to be the Radiau server
