Hi guys

Hoping someone with more experience on a mikrotik router than myself is able to help me...

Recently one of our routers got surge damage and now the PoE port powering the device is dead. It still receives power but no link over that interface.

ETH1 - Internet - Public IP (functioning and connected to ISP gateway interface) - 1.2.3.4/29 (Obviously not the real public IP)
ETH2 - Local - Private IP linked to local network switch (No Link on interface) - 192.168.0.1/24

Is there a way that I can run the local and public ranges through ETH1 until I can replace the router.

I've added a switch connecting both the local and public interfaces and assigned the private IP to ETH1, and this allows me to RDP to a server on the local network but from the server I can not ping out, traceroutes time out just after the gateway IP 192.168.0.1. Not sure where the issue lies or whether the router can't route traffic in this manner so open to suggestions. The fact that I can RDP to the server tells me the data should be able to flow in this manner.

I know this is not an elegant solution but the router is up on a 30m mast and I won't be able to replace it or move ports soon so need an interim solution.

what about creating a virtual interface

there are devices that function via 1 physical port that connect to wan while servicing the lan
