I have created a Mint 18.3 live usb with persistance with multisystem.
The casper directory is there and all space is available.
My settings is not savings ie display settings save etc after restart fails to save.

I searched and seen that the settings is saved in the home-rw partition.

I do not have this partition.

can i create this partition afterwards and if i do will my settings automatically be saved or will i need to do something else too ?

Have you tried using a different tool to create the persistent live usb, such as MultiBootUsb or mkusb?

Why use persistence - there are a number of issues with it. Just install Mint to the USB drive in the normal way but double check the drive assignments ;-) and make sure Grub is installed to the USB drive. I've done this a few times with no problems and then you have a usable OS system to take anywhere. Of course, it runs a LOT faster with USB-3.
