First impressions:
1. How the F do I use this thing?
2. Hey! This is just a glorified point and shoot!
3. Double exposures are fun..
4. Hmmm.. This thing might be quite awesome.
Downside: I'm using LR5 which doesn't recognise the RAW files. **** you Adobe.
Now that you have had some experience with the Fuji, how does it compare to the DSLR? Does it seem worth making the switch (I am eyeing out their end-of-year specials).
Yes!

Say it with me!
You've convinced me....restarts saving for XT10.
I still haven't had a chance to test it out properly. This won't help your decision, but I'll know for sure in a month. I'll be testing it out at a few weddings, other shoots, a two week African road trip and a holiday to CT.
At the moment I just have the 18-55, but will be receiving an adapter for my M42 lenses end of next week. Can't wait to use those. The kit lens is nice and I'm sure I'll use it a ton when I'm on the road, but I really want to use those to test out the X-T10.Thanks, it will be interesting to see your impression.
How do these mirrorless cameras compare IQ wise with the older S90/95/105/110 range?
I've been reading bits and pieces of this thread over the past month or so as it keeps popping up on my What's New list.
And it has reignited that little itch in me for a decent camera again.
Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to sell my previous kit which included a D7100, 24-70mm/F2.8, 70-200mm/F2.8 and 35mm/F1.8.
I know it is not fair to compare the X-T10 with what I had but do you think I would at least be happy if I went with something like the X-T10? Especially looking at the 18-55mm/F2.8-F4 kit.
I love sports and wildlife photography but main purpose of the camera will be family photos, food photography and the odd landscape. For that purpose I know it will be great.
But how does the X-T10 perform when shooting fast moving subjects and especially tracking moving subjects like birds, kids and pets?

You will be more than happy.
DSLR still has the edge with moving objects though, but every firmware update has huge improvements. I'm not sure if the X-T10 uses the same system, but V4 of the X-T1 improved moving tracking, movement detection, etc. tenfold. The focus system was almost entirely revised.
I think you'll love it, but if you can, get another lens. The 18-55mm is good for general purposes but to more seasoned shooters you'll want a lens with a wider aperture. I got my M42 lens adapter on Friday and it's been awesome playing with a 50mm 1.4. It's manual focusing, but with focus peaking I actually used it for a creative shoot and detail shots for a wedding on the weekend.
I've watched and read quite a few reviews about the X-T10 and I'm convinced it will be perfect for everyday things.
But I know it will be only a matter of time before I get the itch to go and shoot a rugby match again. Or some feathery friends at Rietvlei. Pretty much the only thing holding me back from just going ahead and buying it.
I still have to find a working demo version of the camera to play around with. Been to two local shops and they only have ones in boxes. So they take it out but do not allow for actual testing and fooling around.
Thanks. I will be honest. I haven't looked into the lens range extensively yet and I know it is not as broad as the DSLR ranges.
Although the 18-55/F2.8-F4 is not prime territory it is a jump up from the other 16-50mm (I think) kit lens available. And like you said it is at least a good general purpose lens.
But yeah. I'll definitely be looking at something in the F1.8 range. That 35mm was on my D7100 75% of the time for general photography and the bokeh and sharpness was outstanding.
Wife is of course hoping that this little itch disappears. But in the same breath she complains because we don't get such nice pics of the daughter anymore. And second baby is coming in February.
Maybe I should be buying more nappies instead![]()
^ Thanks for that video PP. Does look very good indeed.
I have some more reading up to do especially regarding lens options.
To be safe I will give it at least until after the new year before taking the possible plunge. I'm very thorough (pedantic at times) when it comes to buying stuff like this. Love to know everything before I make my choice.
