The above site uses a Huawei B970 which supports HSDPA and HSUPA. It connects at 7.2Mb/s download and 2.4Mb/s upload.

Officially they say this, but I was on a VoIP over Telkom 3G call using a Nokia E-series and the call lasted during a drive from Sunninghill through to Morningside. This is a distance of about 8km and it seems pretty likely that the signal must have handed over between towers during the drive. I cannot be sure, but on balance of probability, I'd say that handover is happening, they're just saying otherwise so as not to appear to fall foul of their agreement with Vodafone. This restriction will fall away in a few weeks in any case once Vodacom is listed and the sale of Telkom's shareholding in it is completed.
