I think it's a strategy thing on Apple part.

Articles abound about slow sales and the share price dropping 1/3rd in 2 months. They need to do something and they're good at marketing/manipulating. Chatting to a few people around an iStore in the US means they can get what the info they need to roll out this article globally.

I mean 16% of the 165 upgrades from Android - that's a whopping 26 people! Almost surreal ...

It could be true that more people who are buying iPhone are migrating from Android, but so what? It's meaningless really. So, of your increasingly smaller user base more of your new customers are migrating from Android than before? That's nice.

A report by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) shows a 5% increase in Android users moving to the iPhone Xr when compared to previous iPhones.

According to CIRP, 16% of iPhone Xr buyers upgraded from an Android device.

That's a complete lie. Apple is in the worst crisis ever. Android phones are dropping like hot cakes

I just don't feel 165 customers from a single country is a decent size - that's all. XR is sold everywhere, right?

I mean there are more iStores in the US ... so that's not even 1 survey per iStore, which I personally think is not enough. Hell - even the die hard Apple folk on the Apple forums are saying they should have done more.

I set up an iPhone X for my uncle's girlfriend yesterday and the outgoing iPhone 6 for my granny (which required migrating data from her iPhone 4). I am somewhere close to 100% sure I will never move from OnePlus to iPhone. Christ the UX is godawful.

I'm not sure what they're called, but there are 270+ in the US alone and 230+ spread across 24 countries
They've sold (I guess) millions and millions and millions of iPhone XR both in the US and abroad
But they do a survey only 165 in the US (not even a single person per store) - of which 26 made the switch from Android

It's just a really odd article - but like I said earlier, they're trying to feign success ... and many people have bought into the article.

No one is saying it's a bad phone - it's just that 26 guys in the USA that decided to change phones, isn't really the biggest news - or an indicator of what's happening in the smartphone market

Scored a 101 on dxomark. That the same as a Pixel 3! Xr regarded as the best performing single lens camera on the market currently. (along with the Pixel 3).

A12 bionic chip is stellar too!

Perhaps you'll sell more if you point this out to prospective customers?

Small test sample but if those numbers were replicated at other Apple Stores, not insignificant. Suggests Android users that cannot afford $1000 Android/Apple flagship, but can afford a $750 mid to top end Android/Apple device would choose the Apple.
