Most Popular Programming Language, Do you know it?

After doing some browsing last night, I came across a very interesting site, well the sites theme(if I can call it that) is PHP, now I never learnt PHP, simply because
I don't want to learn a language that's limiting to only web based capabilities. Well that's what I thought, that was my impression of PHP.

Normally I won't read articles about PHP, but my instinct told me to finish the page. Well after going through the entire site, it was my curiousness that controlled me, I now have a different outlook on PHP, I wasn't aware that you can write GTK applications with PHP!?

Have any of you guys done this? or even know of this subject? well I would obviously believe that you programming gurus would know about this.

Look at this site: http://gtk.php.net/

I think one of the main things drawing people to .NET languages is the IDE. Visual Studio is IMHO the best IDE by far, it has just about everything you'll ever need. At a price though...

So which is the most popular then? C++, or Java springs to mind for me.... clearly Ada is not, as I've never heard of it before. :P

http://www.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html

The TIOBE Programming Community index is an indicator of the popularity of programming languages. The index is updated once a month. The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers world-wide, courses and third party vendors. The popular search engines Google, MSN, Yahoo!, Wikipedia and YouTube are used to calculate the ratings. Observe that the TIOBE index is not about the best programming language or the language in which most lines of code have been written.

Java 17.999%
C 16.076%
C++ 9.014%
PHP 7.511%
C# 6.687%

Edit: ADA at #18 with 0.650%
