i gave Ubuntu a fair chance, but it turned out too much like hard work.
Yes, initially setting up your computer could be hard work, but eventually after u custom tailored it to your liking, got all the devices up and running etc you find your self with what must be the best OS/Most stable OS/Most powerful(ok that goes for the whole UNIX family) in existence.
Don't get me wrong, it's looks good, very customizable and fast, but it is horribly let down with driver support.
Unfortunately U can't expect Linux to be on par with drivers support to commercial OS's..although I might be wrong but pretty sure it has more Hardware support out of the box than windows
I like to plug gadgets in and then they just work, but Linux is let down here.
What are u talking about?? what "gadget" is this? Cause pretty sure if u browse around then U'll find it is supported or made to work one way or another
I couldn't get these devices going:
- Bluetooth mouse
- Digital camera (no Linux support)
- Video camera
- 2 different Skype phones
bluetooth mouse works..working with one as I'm typing this
digital camera...haha thats a joke right? It works lol
video camera..not sure what video camera you are talking about but it'l work
skype phones..depends I suppose from make and model
So I gave up in the end and went back to windows.
That's my gripe for the day. Cheers
Yes, and its better that u went back as well...cause U see Linux is about finding solutions...not whining like a little girl(and so proving your incompetence)...Everything I wanted to do on Linux so far I where able to do arguably better than on windows. Only gadget I got stuck with once was a Vodacom 3g dongle (but thats because I didn't have a internet connection to get driver for it 8.10 of Ubuntu promises built in support for these)
Linux is the future mark my words and call me Nostradamus..it unfortunately just doesnt anticipate that people of a lesser inteligence will bother using it.
