Most terrifying viruses

...that's not very "Ubuntu" of you

Thats cause I'm not an ubuntu user..I'm Gentoo we really dont care whether the lesser humans can utilize our distro...but big ups to the ubuntu okes for the amount of patience u okes have with the lesser

In any case..worst virus to date was written by microsoft..think vista

Intelligence is a choice... and then a lot of practice. Like getting fit. Some people enjoy sitting on the couch and have everything handed to them, where as some of us prefer getting up and do something.. Lazy/Slow/Uninterested doesn't make them lesser. ;)

I cant run my virus

@:~$ sudo apt-get install Vista
Error: Package Vista not found

Nope, can't find that package either...

Don't you people know anything...
It's apt-get install wine
NOTE: It's not complete yet as it still has issues running BSOD.

As for the people complaining about Linux not supporting X hardware, don't blame Linux, go ask the supplier for support. the more people ask them the better the chance they will start shipping with drivers or better yet, Open source em.

I wonder how far you Microsoft fanboys would get without installing drivers for that cool sound card, cellphone and so on....

wine is awesome..I find it to be more than capable at running pretty much any game/application I wanted

Microsoft fan boys are just Microsoft fanboys cause Microsoft just requires the user to use a mouse (how dull?).. If most of them see a terminal/command prompt their mouths start foaming and they burst into tears...(and yes I'm being this insulting deal with it)

A virus usually depends as much on a user not being computer litterate as it depends on windows.

I dont have an antivirus at home on my XP machine  because they are resource hogs.

Someone who is not computer litterate is not going to be using linux anyway, unless it came pre-installed

ha

dude, take your insults elsewhere, that's not what this forum is all about.

btw, your unilateral declaration of intelligence is quite amusing! hehehehehe. we're all really impressed over here

Dude stick with XP, vista or whatever piece of hogwashed under performing OS u choose...always great to know U arent getting the most performance for your buck, but wait thats not all!!! Microsoft will even throw in more(for a few bucks)! You have to pay pretty much the double seeing that it doesnt include an office suite. Oh and dont forget about the antivirus software that will slow down your computer even more... and even after all of this your computer is still little more than an rather expensive "venus fly trap" for viruses....so go on...install windows its the "smart" thing to do:D

I'm running both... and both works great. :D
Ubuntu is just a lot faster.. but if I'm working, or gaming.. Windows comes out to play. As simple as that...

Another thread tainted by fanbois and their BS. Some nasty little peices of work spreading on the net, as I expected most would be trojans.

I use both Windows and Linux. Just because you can and enjoy compiling all your programs on Gentoo Linux. Does not make you better than everyone else.

There are people who just want their computers to work, there is nothing wrong with that. It does not mean they are less intellegant it just means they are interested in others things. (Non computer related)

I think the biggest hurdle Linux has are its arrogant users who think they are better than everyone else. At the end of the day no one cares what OS you run. If it works for then then that is great.

BUT WE ARE BETTER>>> how many windows users actually even know what a kernel is, needless to say know how it works....not allot.... But yes windows still is forcing itself onto allot of people for gaming purposes..and it doesnt just work..mac just work..but thats for people on a stupidity level of their own

Linux...

<moLe>, do yourself a favour and experiment with other operating systems. Maybe even get some experience by migrating a few companies systems over to some or other open source OS.

Pretty soon you will realise:
a) linux is just a bunch of tools and a kernel
b) linux is not as great as you think it is
c) linux is not always the best operating system for the job

Let people do their work, and let the IT staff worry about the systems. If everyone sat and mucked around on their linux installation no work would be done.

I use Linux and Windows daily and would be the first to admit that Linux has some ground to cover, yet.

Knowing which config file goes where and what sudo utterances are needed usually has more to do with rote learning than intelligence.

I've seen plenty of Ubuntu breakages in my time - expect X/Nvidia issues each update (yeah, Nvidia isn't open, but still), UUID device problems, broken package dependencies, etc. The level of control and freedom is certainly worth it over XP/Vista, but it's simply a fact that the average user's eyes will glaze over when anything command-line is needed.
