Moto G

I was thinking of buying the Moto G 16gb unlocked off ebay for around R2 900 and I was thinking will I run into possible ICASA problems considering what happened at the Orange Store

I doubt there will be issues. These unbranded poorly specced android phones from China that are sold on Gumtree/ Bid or Buy, I doubt they have ICASA approval.

I few years back I brought a Motorola E2 ROKR back with me from Europe and used it for another 3 years without issues.

It is on it's way, and that's as much as I know.
Left New Jersey yesterday.
i-Parcel, the courier company used by Amazon, took a week and half after receiving my parcel to inform me that they required my ID number in order to ship it to South Africa.
It's supposedly on it's way now, so I will hopefully receive it sometime next week.
My brother has one (brought back from the US) and I can tell you it looks and feels amazing.
There's really no better option at the R2500/R3000 price range.
 
For anyone interested - I still have a brand new moto play edition available. will be supplied with the play store invoice.

Advertised in the classifieds section.

Hmmm, weird. I clicked on "ask a question" at Amazon and they said that they don't ship to SA (Even though the "calculate shipping and taxes" option works for my SA address).

Would love to help you out (I pm'd you on Carb a while back) but the warranty thing worries me.
 
Ordered and received my 16gb moto g all for a total of R2600 off amazon shipping and taxes included and it was well worth it, the phone is awesome, screen is very much scratch proof its also ready for kitkat upgrade I have downloaded but wary of upgrading due to some horror stories on the net but overall im happy the phone took just over 2 weeks to arrive. :)

no problem I could also track the package at any stage from when it left the US till it landed in Jo'burg for customs and down to cape town. I never had to provide my ID or any further info at any stage. It was a patient but smooth process.
 
Yip, mine arrived last week.
Flippin awesome phone.
Just checked Amazon, still shipping to S.A.
Comes to about R2600 including shipping and import fees - that's just for the phone.
Super happy with the quality of the device, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new phone.
I'm getting around 7 hours of screen-on time which is insane battery life.
 
Oooh! Dual sim from jado pado, had a friend bring them over for me. Dunno what to do with them, my nexus 4 just came back from repair a couple of days ago

Hey has anyone with the moto g had anyone issues after upgrading to kitkat. Just want to know before I take the leap
 
Seriously couldn't recommend this phone enough.
The screen is beautifully clear, even though the camera is only 5MP it still takes decent shots and everything runs smoothly.
For R2600 the performance to price ratio is second to none.
 
Did anyone buy a cover/case ? If so, from where ? Is it cheaper to buy it from Amazon when purchasing the phone ?
