FP1 done and dusted and it's not who you'd expect at the top of the time sheet. Hondas struggling. Hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Team Suzuki Ecstar rider Maverick Viñales topped Friday mornings MotoGP FP1 in Montmeló ahead of Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo.

The 21-year old Viñales topped the timesheets by 0.078s ahead of Lorenzo with his time of 1m 42.065s.

The early part of proceedings was dominated by Lorenzo until Viñales bettered his time towards the end of the session.

Third quickest was Valentino Rossi on his Yamaha followed by Pol Espargaro on his Yamaha M1's 0.644s behind the leader.

Track layout change... After the crash, it's been decided MotoGP will use the same turn 10 F1 uses, as well as the chicane that bypasses turn 12.
Man this has ruined race weekend for me.

Ja sounds like the issue is that turn 12 does not have a gravel trap which would have helped slow down Luis. Very sad.
