Yeah, Fabio is nothing if not a gent. Good race though. That brief rain scare gave me Austria flashbacks for a second but it never materialized. Great recovery ride from Aleix
 
I see Alex Marquez has been confirmed at Gresini Ducati, replacing Bastiannini who is going to either the factory Ducati team of Pramac Racing for 2023
 
The best part about Assen (apart from the simply brilliant layout) is the corner names. Listening to Matt Burt and Jack Appleyard rattling them off during the racing was fantastic.

Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia admitted that he drove his car into a ditch in Ibiza while he was over the legal alcohol limit in the early hours of Tuesday. Bagnaia, last year's runner-up in the MotoGP championship, is currently on a summer break after the Dutch Grand Prix, with the season set to resume next month at Silverstone. The Italian rider has endured a frustrating season with four non-finishes but claimed his third victory of the year in Assen last month. The 25-year-old said he was celebrating his race win with friends in Ibiza.

"As I was leaving the disco at 3 am, I was facing a roundabout when I ended up with the front wheels in a ditch without involving other vehicles or people," Bagnaia wrote on Instagram. "However, the alcohol test carried out by the police found that the blood alcohol level was higher than what is allowed by Spanish law. "I am sorry for what happened; I am practically a non-drinker and it was a serious carelessness that should not have happened.

"I apologize to everyone, and I can assure you that I have learned my lesson. Never get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol."

Surprises me some of the stuff these guys get into given what could be at stake... surely its cheaper overall to have a driver / uber?
 
More pieces in the rider puzzle falling into place after Alex Rins signs a two year deal with LCR Honda, replacing Alex Marquez who is off to Gresini-Ducati. Rumours persist of Joan Mir heading to the factory Honda outfit, presumably to replace Pol Espargaro who would then be out of a ride (although, there are still two seats going at the satellite Aprilia team). Will see how that one pans out.
 
Holy moly, what a Moto3 race. The stewards are going to be busy for a while sorting that out. Welcome back MotoGP!
