Guardians of the Galaxy: 8.5/10

A lot of fun. Best superhero movie of the year by virtue of the characters being second-tier heroes. Loved how they embraced the cheesy aspect of the story (the whole coming together of misfits that end up as heroes gig). No standout performances- the chemistry of the cast was superb.

Oh, and kudos to the CGI. Best I have seen in a Marvel movie by a distance.

Lee Pace is a very different actor without those overly expressive eyebrows being visible :D

The Expendables 3 - 5/10

All about the actors. Mel Gibson is a really good villain, Banderas is very funny at times and Snipes is awesome in the first part of the film. The rest is just the usual violence (which is great too :p )

Decent slow moving drama.
Set in New York, it revolves around a successful man that has lives a carefully crafted private life that allows him to indulge in his sexual addiction.
His life is disrupted by the unannounced visit from his sister for an indefinite time.

Michael Fassbender is the lead.
Carey Mulligan his sister.

Directed by Steve McQueen of 12 Years a Slave and Hunger (2008)
 
Devil's Due (2014) 0/10

Goeie f0k. Seriously. I did not think it humanly possible to make schit like this. Maybe if this movie came out 20 years ago, but now, this year. It takes everything that has been done by the hand cam movies 20 times, and does it again. Boring from start to finish, nothing new in the genre. Biggest 90 minute waste of my whole life.

Yip. I think Pratt was a very good fit. Knows how to inject that little bit of cheese and goofyness the character has without compromising too much.

Found him very cool as a villain. Especially since I constantly had his character from Pushing Daisies in my head. :D

Thats the one with Edward James Olmos. I thought it was much better that Blood In Blood Out. The story and plot was much more mature.

Never really took note of Edward James Olmos as an actor but since the re-imagined BSG series, he kinda grows on you. Ofcourse a much younger Olmos in that movie.

Apologies. That movie I'm referring to was American Me not Once Upon a Time in America.
 
Is it just me or has Nicolas Cage been making really crappy movies lately ?

A grade actor slowly falling into B category coz of bad productions.

Maybe he should stop accepting ****ty scripts all portraying the same random character?
He could use his own quality control rather than allowing his career to go down the ****ter.
