The Martian

7.5 / 10

Never read the book but thought the movie was great. Ridley Scott delivered and the Martian landscapes are beautiful.

Goosebumps (2015) 7/10

"A teenager teams up with the daughter of young adult horror author R. L. Stine after the writer's imaginary demons are set free on the town of Madison, Delaware." Well done enjoyable adventure. If you grew up reading the books or watching the TV series of the mid 90's this movie will tick all the right boxes.Jack Black does a convincing job as R. L. Stine.

Will do. Seems to be the standard that the book is better than the movie

True, the movie did alot right but the book expanded on things so well. I often say that a book is better than the movie but this story really deserved to have been told with the all the details. The drama and tension are top notch. If the movie had been longer it'd have been better imo.

The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009)

Why did I wait so long to watch this after The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? Excellent acting and brilliant story. Watched in Swedish with English subs. 8/10

I've also watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and not the other. I must make time to watch it with the S.O.

So my father in law wanted to watch it so I dug it up from the Kodi archives again.

American Sniper - still give it a solid 8/10.
War is just farked up man.

That ending with the actual footage got me again. Right in the feels.

Wife is going to buy the book. Want to read the whole story.

Straight Outta Compton

8 / 10. Excellent movie. Always been a fan on NWA, cube and dre. The guy that played snoop was weak. Solid acting for Suge and E. Brought back memories of watching the LA Riots

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_(miniseries)

The Millennium TV miniseries is a compilation the three Swedish film adaptations, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest with extended scenes, adding more depth in both the stories and the characters.

The miniseries was divided into 6 episodes total, with each episode of the series is about 90 minutes long,[1] making the television series about 110 minutes longer than the movies.

Bridge of Spies - 8

Leonardo DiCaprio acts his heart out in The Revenant, and Tom Hanks responds with a performance that makes acting look easy.

Cold War spy story no doubt sanitised for US audiences, but as 'based-on' movies go this one is not that far from reality.

The Hateful Eight - 8.5

This won't be everyone's cup of tea but every frame screams Tarantino.

The dialogue, the camera angles, the music, all classic Quentin in another homage to the old Westerns, though it's more Reservoir Dogs than Django.

It's length is a lot to absorb in one sitting and you might do well to consume it in bite-sized chunks.

The Revenant (2015)
7/10

Movie is ok.
Lots of grunting and groaning and crawling over the snow.
Screenplay is weak and predictable.
Subtitles are needed to make out what Tom Hardy is saying.
Cinematography is good though.
