Hi

I am considering the MTN anytime contract with the GS4. It comes with 200mb of data which is really minimal for a smart phone. Is it possible to bolt on extra data and what is the price for the extra data?

Yea, what you're looking for is a recurring bundle - you can choose your package, pricing is here: http://www.mtnsp.co.za/FindaPlan/Pages/DataBundles.aspx

A note regarding that pricing: MTN are currently running promotions which are priced much lower than that regular pricing on the site - the promo was set to last until June but they extended it until September... hopefully they'll keep extending but who knows.

Are these the deals? http://mybroadband.co.za/news/cellular/81091-mtn-data-price-reductions-extended.html

So I would then be paying R49 to add an extra 500mb to my contract? Can I buy it in advance for the duration of the contract? Also can I use the R200 airtime to buy the bundle?

No, you should be looking at the pricing above (not the bottom) ie. you'd be paying R99 for 500MB, R49 for 300MB, etc.
You can't buy in advance, therefore pricing will return to the regular amount once the promotion period ends.. whenever that may be (atm its September).

and no, unfortunately we can't, to my knowledge, use bundled airtime towards data bundles.

...this could be the most negative response I've ever given - sorry :P

This is what I see when I click the "activate services" link and choose the "recurring data" option on mtnsp.co.za
