Has anyone received their MTN bill this month? I got an SMS saying it will be delayed (on the 20th, I think).

I still haven't received it - and I'm not comfortable with them debiting an amount from my account until I see the bill - they make too many mistakes in their favour.

I have now been on hold to 808 for a total of 25min - first time the dude answered and put down at the same time - this is now the second call, 20min and holding.

...and now sitting on 35min - these guys are shocking... my battery will be flat before they answer.

I just put up another thread, I never got debited for few months and paid by bank deposit. Account is up to date but they started debiting all of a sudden, now I need to fight to get it back

If they debit my account without me receiving a bill, I'm going to get the bank to reverse it - they haven't billed me, so I'm not paying - its that simple - if they debit my account, it will be unauthorized.

Ok - I give up - logged a complaint on hellopeter - they can call me - holding for 45minutes is completely unacceptable - I've got better things to do than sit here waiting for them to answer - and I bet they'll have some crappy excuse anyways, and do nothing about it.

Now that you mention it... I still have to receive a bill from them as well

Still no bill from these useless ****ers, nevermind no return phonecalls, etc..

I really cannot wait for the 24 month period to be up.

I need to claim my calls back from my company - and thanks to these idiots, I can't.

Try calling in the evening. I was going through the battery killinh hour long holds etc.

Tried on a whim at 9pm last week, and got through in less than 2min. Was stoked!

They couldn't sort the problem out, but at least got to speak to someone...

Sure you are all loving the "pleae note: data bundles do not apply when roaming...":)

Please! Make it stop! My ears are bleeding!! I would rather have crappy music!

I've been waiting for MTN to port my number since the 22nd, still haven't been switched over. I'm so frustrated with calling 808 or the MTNSP store that I went to. I keep getting, "We had a problem with the system but you will be activated within 2-24 hours...blah, blah, fishpaste..."

It seems like there is a problem with MTN as a whole and they are keeping mum about it. I think it's hurting their rep more by not being honest with us and telling us what's going on. Customers are more likely to stick with a provider if they are transparent and helpful. When will they ever learn that basic truth??

I heard they recently moved or something, and some servers/hardware was damaged.

Then there were the rains in JHB which farked up some more hardware.

Their capacity to do almost anything at the moment seems pretty low... Losers.

Can't believe I am about to sign another 24month contract with them. Me = ~loser? :(:mad:

Well, I only signed up with them because I wanted their cheap data rates, currently the cheapest of them all right now. I wanted to port to prepaid, but they said I couldn't do that so I had to port to contract instead. I just took a R15 top up. I already have a phone. If they bill me for January, I'm going to turn into the hulk!

I don't buy that server getting dameged nonsense. They are a multibillion rand company. If they can't afford to repair or replace them quickly, then they shouldn't be in business.
Where did they move to and from?

^^^ Nice Sig:)

Ja, those are huge rumours...

Wouldn't have minded an explanation in that lame SMS they sent out. Prevents speculation/irritation.

That's exactly my point!
If they eliminated the cause for speculation, they would have much more relatively understanding customers who will be willing to wait and put up with whatever problems and difficulties they experience (to an extent obviously) in the hope that we would be rewarded for our patience and understanding and be treated with an even greater level of service in future.
But this arrogant and immature practice of keeping your subscribers in the dark is just not on. Virgin does the same thing.
Speculation turns into rumors, rumors sway public opinion, and it's extremely difficult to change the mind of the public in this country. not because we are arrogant, but because we are strong-willed and our past experiences with shoddy service forces us to be very conservative and skeptical. Sad actually...

Finally got through to 808 - they've resent the bill - see they've stopped responding on hellopeter - just shows how crap their service is... forgot to ask the dude how I give notice on my account.

I plan on porting to Vodacom as soon as this contract has run its 24 month course, anyone know how you give notice to MTN - I plan on doing it now.

You write a note on a piece of toilet paper, attach it to a brick and throw it through the highest window you can reach at their head offices.

My brother has an MTN contract. Lately it has not been connecting. So, he gave them a call to find out what the problem could be :) Turns out, his account is suspended. They state that he is in arrears of R 1600 because the debit order has been rejected for the passed TWO months. Now, this is interesting. He pays approx R250 or so for a 500mb contract. So R250 for TWO months would equal R500. Add the odd exception where he goes over the 500mb limit. This should make it about R600.... now the interesting thing is his bank statements show the debit order going through without any issues. So MTN is taking his money and not supplying any bandwidth. On top of this, they are saying that he is in arrears of R 1600. Very interesting :O

Yeah, that's interesting alright... A very high interest if you ask me ;)

Again, the astoundingly accurate miracles of MTN's billing systems...

Now do you understand why one of their brand values is "innovation"?:p
