MTN Black Friday Discussions

Got an email today offering to upgrade me to 120GB anytime data for R219

Trying to get info to see how much of this 120 is shareable vs being padded with their "streaming" data

Yeah I phoned them again to find out how to cancel and what the cancellation fee would be (R659) which isn't too bad. but will do it next month. Retentions tried to offer me 250gig for R419.(Paying R353) They wouldn't budge on a better deal or package.

Besides that MTN entirely pissed off today, it is practically impossible using a prepaid number to call them, the automated system basically loops to death. FCK that shyte. Had to take out my sim from the router place it in my phone and then call them to get a actually fcking person. Freaking daft.

Either way dropping MTN like a sack of shyte they are.

Used vodacom website to get 400gig 200gig anytime and 200gig night data for R399.00. Approval/credit checks and application done without speaking to a single person. (Absa is having system issues so can't do the debicheck thing currently)

It is 50gig less than I currently get, but that 200gig night data is quite useful as I often up at strange hours, so it won't go to waste.

Pity been with MTN for 12 plus years and its clear loyalty buys you fck all.

Very wise, yes! And I really wonder if their systems are robust to allocate the data usage correctly when you're streaming. Would be difficult to track this ourselves.

And this is why you never trust MTN

The initial email told me:
You are currently receiving 50GB anytime data for R294.
You can also upgrade to 120GB anytime data for R219.

And they were pushing me to say yes to this deal
Getting further info
Please note that the offer is for 100GB Anytime Data at R219 per month, on a 24-month contract.
The data allocation is as follows:
  • 50GB Anytime Data (shareable)
  • 50GB Streaming Data for services such as DStv, Netflix, Disney+, and similar streaming platforms

It the exact same Mobile Internet Platinum package being offered slightly cheaper

They are heavy into the streaming data boat now....They know the streaming data is useless for 90% of users....they can pad their profits.
