MTN Black Friday Discussions

What was your activation date? Might be that the pro rata portion is added, thereby making it more than what the normal monthly cost is... or a connection fee? Still have to check mine though.
That makes sense to me actually, but no harm in asking I geuss.

ah ok. Not sure why the invoice does not reflect this?
Rechecked my invoice.... Total = R190 made up of R149 + 41.51 (pro rata). The discounts definitely applied can see it on the invoice, connection fee also reversed . My bill looks right from what I can see.

That is correct. R218.43 - R87.72 discount = R130.71 (ex vat). Add vat and that brings you to R149.

As these are postpaid contracts, is there an option to choose not to allow any data over-usage?

Was at the store, and called earlier the call centre, this 50gb deal you have to get with a device, no sim only deal.

No, 0 means 0.

I would guess that -1 means unlimited - I don't think this is even possible because it's a credit limit.

I signed up over the phone and told them to cap my account when the limits are reached. My limits are set to 0.

Ok well my friend's got set to R1 when he requested that and someone else on this thread (or one of the others relating to this deal) mentioned that 0 means it's not limited.

Anyone else managed to get the dual SIM working?

Still waiting. My secondary sim is active on the MTN system. They not sure why the sim itself is not working.

When I was at the MTN store yesterday the consultant showed me an email they received in mid October, according to the email the dual call option was removed from My MTNChoice+ packages.

Will keep an eye on mine then but I don't think it works that way.

Please be advised that you can change the limit from R0.00 to any value anytime you wish by contacting our Customer Care on 808 (free from an MTN line) or 083 1 808 (chargeable from a non-MTN line) or by dialing *141*5# ok , select on 'Manage Usage' then choose 'Manage Usage Limit' to change the limit.

Are you a My MTNChoice or a My MTNChoice TopUp user and you keep getting that end of the month bill shock? It’s not cool right?! Well rest assured, MTN’s got your back! We’ve put the control back in your hands! You now have the choice of whether you prefer minute or value based plans and how you spend and pay. You are also able to manage your spend, keep up to date with notifications and have the ability to further recharge with airtime. All this through the use of a Usage Limit.

The Usage Limit is essentially the amount you have available to spend after paying for your monthly subscription and any recurring bundles that MTN gives you each month on your contract. The Usage Limit is determined based on a credit vetting process that approves a certain value of credit to you as a subscriber based on your credit record and payment track record.

I’m sure you’re asking how this all works? Well you have 2 options:

Option 1: In order to limit the spend/usage to only the monthly allocated inclusive value you get from MTN on your monthly contract, you can visit your nearest MTN store and the helpful consultant can set your Usage Limit to Zero (0). Once this is done, the plan will work like the old MTN AnyTime TopUp and will not go out-of-bundle.

Option 2: You can also change or set your Usage Limit yourself based on your given credit rating by dialling *141*5#. The Usage Limit can be used to buy add-on data, voice and SMS bundles or to use for that out-of-bundle usage.

To buy bundles, you can dial *141*2#, and once you purchase your additional items it will be added on to your bill.

Like I said, it can't be unlimited.

That's weird! Nadir and his brother's dual sim is working. :/ unless they removed it from the MyMTNChoice packages but kept it on the MyMTNChoice Talk packages.

It's stupid that MTN stops these functionalities. Every time I remove my sim from my phone to use it in a router, I have to pay R 1.60 to reactivate iMessage.
