MTN Black Friday Discussions

It seems like those who already have the dual call are lucky. Ones who have the sim will end up being billed even though it doesn't work. 808 customer care is really useless, they transfer you to every other incorrect department. My thoughts are they know what is required to get it working, but they dont want to, to avoid having people use the sim in a router.
 
Has anyone successfully got a clone of their sim so they can use their data on 2 sim cards at the same time.

No, read the last few pages.

Datashare is not available for these packages and neither does dual call seem to be possible.
 
Cloning is not quite legal if simcards or bankcards
Even if you could clone the sim they wouldn't both be able to register on the network at the same time, which makes the exercise a bit useless?
 
Mmm, after not trying the sim I used to apply for Dual Call for the last 2 weeks or so I decided to fire it up, working now like a charm, made a call, Internet, all good.

Not sure why it's suddenly started working but I'm not complaining.

Seriously? Mine is still not working! :(. This is so unfair.
 
Did you not try it for 2 weeks or you applied for it about 2 weeks ago?

Went on holiday and didn't try the dual call sim for 2 weeks. Applied for the Dual Call about a week or so after cyber monday
 
I went to mtn and they did a manual activation. They said on their side it's showing as active so it's weird that it's still not working.

They said by tomorrow morning it should be working. Hoping it finally does.

Looks like you can still get this deal with some specific handsets. I was at MTN yesterday, and there are some smart s packages which still include the 50gb and 10k minutes pm. The cheapest that I saw was R399, and included some Android phone.

Nah man, if I could get it working after the first 2 tits I spoke to at Mtn(including the call center) said it wasn't possible then it means it is possible.

Granted when I went back to do the manual activation the guy that helped me is really awesome but still if you can find a helpful person I think it's still possible.

Maybe put the sim in a drawer and try again after a week, it maybe something linked to the sim mustn't be trying to register on the network for a certain period for some arcane process to take place.

That's actually one of the big delays with activation. Leaving simcard out of phone for 24 hours prevents it trying to register and getting blocked by network.
 
Airborne. Did you Rica your secondary Sim or did they guy at the store say it was not necessary? First I was told it wasn't necessary then after it was rica'd it took 2 weeks for me. I'm not sure of that had anything to do with it.
That could be why it shows the service is active on their system but the sim card itself isn't active

EDIT: Im glad someone else's is working now since I was the only one confirming it does work.

I used the sim that was delivered for my other Cyber Monday contract that used my number ported from MTN prepaid, I never used the sim because the prepaid sim became my contract sim.

When the guy told me the sim was R136 odd rand I asked if I could use that unused/unassigned contract sim and he said yes. I'm assuming the sim was obviously already Rica'd.
 
The service shows its active and the sim number shows as a secondary sim on the system. They still not sure why the sim itself isn't working when the sim number is registered to my number. They even had a manual activation done. I'll try again after Jan 10. I'm only available after Jan 10 to go to MTN Direct anyways.
