MTN Black Friday Discussions

I reckon Mtn was in a bit of a financial hole, probably after that Nigerian fine fiasco and needed a rapid influx of subscribers and cash flow and they needed a big carrot to be guaranteed to achieve that.
+1

That combined with dropping subscriber numbers and a newly upgraded network left them with enough capacity to pull this off easily....

When/what part of their network has been recently upgraded?

When/what part of their network has been recently upgraded?

Last year shortly before the Black Friday deal they announced completion of a major network upgrade, where I work it was LTE with decent speeds(60mb/s average) compared to when I last tried a year earlier MTN only had 3G (around 4mb/s average).

Also I seem to get LTE coverage quite widely especially in built up areas they mostly have LTE now.

This is true, I was a hardcore pro Vodacom MTN basher but I ate my words after October last year. MTN is the fastest where I live

I got the Cyber Monday deal from the call center, can I order a dual sim from them or do I have to go in store?

the dual sim gets you a second sim to use in another phone? so a phone and router?

will the dual call work with this deal

Apparently the guy at the store says that it doesn’t work with this current promotion?

I think only the original black friday and cyber monday promotions allowed it. Later on was stopped, or from what I gleaned in this thread.

apparently ours said its not registered on the network

Went to mtn store to enquire about getting dual call activated. I have the cyber Monday deal.

Plan was to use other sim in wifi router at home..Guy at store says that only one sim can work at any given time. Second sim is a spare essentially.

I'm confused... is this true?

No. He is confused. I have one SIM in router at home, other SIM in my wife's phone. Note that the promo data isn't available on the second sim though.

It's not true, but agree with him and test the "spare" sim at the store once it's activated.

Go home and enjoy data on both sims.
